INDIANAPOLIS – Saint Martin’s head men’s soccer coach Rob Walker has been selected to serve a four-year term on the NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer Committee.

“It’s a great honor to represent Saint Martin’s University and the GNAC on the Men’s Soccer Committee,” Walker said. “In a normal year, the work the committee does is important and I can only imagine that as we move forward out of COVID, the work of the committee will be even more important as we try to ‘get back to normal.’”

The Division II sports committees conduct their sport’s respective Division II championship and develop policies and procedures to administer the championship in an efficient and orderly manner. Sport committee members also chair regional advisory committees (RAC), oversee selections to national championships and serve as the NCAA representative during preliminary-round competition and championship finals.

Selection to the Men’s Soccer Committee is a natural transition for Walker, who has served on West Region RACs for both men’s and women’s soccer. His term on the national committee runs through August 2025.

“One of the key things for me over the years has been to be diligent in my preparation, be mindful of the work I’m doing and be open to the opinions of other committee members,” Walker said. “I anticipate that these components will be replicated on a national level as well. This is a real professional challenge and I’m looking forward to it.”

Walker is in his 16th season as Saint Martin’s head men’s soccer coach. He began both the men’s and women’s programs at the club level before the teams were elevated to varsity status in 2007. After 10 seasons coaching both programs, Walker became the full-time men’s coach in 2017.

Walker has been involved with coaching soccer at all levels of the game since the early 1980s. He was a member of the U.S. Soccer national goalkeeping staff from 1997 to 2015. He worked with the U.S. Men’s National Team prior to the 1996 Olympic Games and the 2000 U.S. Women’s National Team in preparation for the Algarve Cup.
