ROHNERT PARK, Calif. –Western Washington senior Jordan Lee and sophomore Seth King and Simon Fraser senior Jordan Bean sit among the individual leaders while the Red Leafs are in the hunt after the first round of the NCAA Division II West/South Central Men’s Golf Super Regional at the Foxtail Golf Club.

The three GNAC players sit among a eight-way tie for sixth place after the first round with scores of 1-under-par 71. The effort by Bean helped lead Simon Fraser for second place in the team competition with a score of 1-over-par 289. The Red Leafs are tied with Western New Mexico and Stanislaus State and sit eight strokes behind Colorado Christian, which leads with a 7-under-par 289.

The performances from Lee and Bean paced Western Washington to a tie for eighth place with a score of 7-over-par 295.

King found himself near the top of the leaderboard through the first nine holes, opening his round with an eagle on the 563-yard par-5 first hole and registering birdies on three other holes. He birdied two holes on the back nine but shot bogies on four others to finish with a 71.

Lee was consistent throughout his opening round, carding birdies on two holes on the front nine and shooting just one bogey the entire round to earn his 71. Bean, meanwhile, shot birdies on three of the first four holes and was over par on just one hole, a double-bogey on the 11th hole.

Senior Aidan Goodfellow is tied for 14th for Simon Fraser, carding an even-par 72. Junior Michael Crisologo and sophomore Bailey Bjornson are tied for 27th with scores of 1-over-par 73. Sophomore Ryan Hodgins is tied for 94th at 6-over-par 78.

For Western Washington, junior Drew Halili is tied for 60th place at 4-over-par 76. Sophomore Conrad Brown is tied for 74th at 5-over-par 77 and senior Cody Oakes is tied for 98th at 8-over-par 80.

Saint Martin’s senior Max Turnquist leads the individual qualifiers for the super-regional after one round. He is among 13 players tied for 14th place with an even-par 72.

Peyton Jones of Colorado Christian in the individual leader with a score of 6-under-par 66.

Second day action is scheduled to commence at 7:30 a.m. Western Washington will tee off at 8:20 a.m. while Simon Fraser is on the first tee at 9:10 a.m. Turnquist is scheduled to tee off at 12:30 p.m.
