NORMAN, Okla. – An abrupt end to Ethan Casto’s senior campaign didn’t stop him from collecting more accolades as the Western Washington senior was named to the PING Division II All-America Third Team by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

Casto was one of nine players to earn third-team honors after he led the GNAC with a 71.6 stroke average over 21 rounds while carding 12 rounds of par or better. He placed in the top-10 in six out of the seven events that he competed at and finished in the top-three on three occasions.

Casto got off to a hot start in the fall, finishing tied for second place at September’s Saint Martin’s Invitational with a score of 11-under-par 205 in the Vikings’ first event of the season. He earned medalist honors at the Western Washington Invitational three days later on a two-hole playoff win over Simon Fraser’s Isaac Lee with a score of 10-under-par 206.

Casto was Western Washington’s top performer at five events, helping to pace the Vikings to six top-10 finishes and three top-five finishes. He was named the GNAC Men’s Golf Player of the Week three times this season, bringing his career total to five.

Casto was one of five GNAC players to earn selection to the PING Division II All-West Region Team, released last Tuesday. He is the seventh GNAC player to be named an All-American and the sixth Viking to be named an All-American in the school’s GNAC era.
