NORMAN, Okla. – The shortened 2019-20 season did little to shorten the accolades for five GNAC men’s golfers who were named on Tuesday to the PING Division II All-West Region Team by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

Concordia and Simon Fraser are each represented by two players. The Cavaliers landed senior Jaxson Daskalos and freshman Jørgen Viken. The Clan is represented by sophomore Aidan Goodfellow and senior Scott Kerr. Western Washington placed one player on the squad in senior Ethan Casto. The five led the conference in stroke average and all were named all-region for the first time in their careers.

Casto topped that list as he finished with a 71.6 stroke average in 21 rounds, finishing with 12 rounds of par or below in 21 total rounds. He placed in top-10 in six of the seven events he competed in, winning the WWU Invitational with a three-round score of 10-under-par 206. Casto tied for second at September’s Saint Martin’s Invitational with an 11-under-par 11.

Viken was second in the GNAC with a 71.8 stroke average, carding a pair of top-10 finishes in his freshman season. He was one of three players to card a conference-low round of 65, hitting that in the second round of October’s Concordia Invitational where he finished in a tie for sixth place. Of his five events, Viken finished at or below par in three of them.

Daskalos tied for third in the conference with a 72 stroke average in 15 rounds, placing in the top-10 in all but one of the five events he competed in. Daskalos carded a season-low round of 67 on three different occasions, most recently at February’s Bay Area Invitational where he tied for third for his best individual placing of the season.

Kerr matched Daskalos with a 72 stroke average in 15 rounds. His five events included three top-10 finishes, led by earning medalist honors at February’s Cal St. San Bernardino Coyote Classic. Six of his 15 rounds were at par or below, which included rounds of 67 and 69 at September’s Saint Martin’s Invitational.

Goodfellow finished fifth among GNAC players with a 72.3 stroke average in 15 rounds. The sophomore posted two top-10 finishes on the season, including a tie for third place at the Concordia Invitational. In that tournament, Goodfellow carded one of the conference’s three rounds of 65 this season.
