PORTLAND, Ore. - Northwest Nazarene golfer Nick Hardy (Sr., Edmonds, WA - King) has been selected the GNAC Red Lion Men's Golfer of the Week.

Hardy, who ranks 18th in the GNAC in scoring, finished fifth in the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational Monday and Tuesday at Turlock, Calif., with a 54-hole score of eight-over-par 224. 

Only Western Washington’s Mark Strickland (So., Mukilteo, WA), who ranks second in the conference in scoring, finished higher than Hardy among GNAC golfers.  He placed second with a 220 total.

Hardy, who is averaging 76.4 strokes per round on the season, led the Crusaders to an eighth-place finish. A total of 16 teams competed in the tournament.

GNAC Championships Presented by Coeur d'Alene Resort Begin Monday 

Western Washington will be seeking its sixth straight men’s team title  Monday and Tuesday in the sixth annual GNAC Men’s Golf Championships Presented by the Coeur d’Alene Resort.

The tournament is being played at the Coeur d’Alene Resort Golf Course for the fifth year in a row.

The Vikings, who are ranked second in the West Region and eighth nationally in the Golf World/Nike Golf Division II poll, won the title last year by 26 shots over Saint Martin’s (856-882).

Western Washington’s Jake Webb takes a three-shot lead over Mark Strickland in the conference season scoring race into the conference tournament.

Webb is averaging 73.5 shots for 27 rounds compared to Strickland’s 73.6 average. 

Gage Huft of Montana State Billings, who won the Saint Martin’s Preview early this month at The Home Course in DuPont, ranks third with a 74.2 average. 

The Home Course will host the NCAA Division II West/South Central regional next month.
