PORTLAND, Ore. – Saint Martin’s Christian Haffner leads 28 players to be named to the 2022-23 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball All-Academic Team, presented by Barnes and Noble College.

The junior guard holds a 4.00 grade point average as a business administration major and is one of nine players in the conference with a GPA of 3.70 or higher.

Haffner has been a steady presence for the Saints this season, appearing in 20 games this season. He leads the team and ranks ninth in the GNAC shooting 43.2% from three-point range while his 35 three-pointers made leads the Saints and also ranks 12th in the conference.

Alaska Anchorage, Central Washington, Montana State Billings and Saint Martin’s all have five players on the team, followed by Northwest Nazarene with three.

The Men’s Basketball All-Academic Team features 18 repeat selections, led by four-time honoree Matt Poquette of Central Washington. The senior forward, with a 3.82 GPA as a sport management major, leads CWU and ranks fourth in the GNAC with 6.6 rebounds per game while his 12.7 points per game ranks second for the Wildcats and eighth in the conference.

Alaska Anchorage junior guard Caleb Larsen and Saint Martin’s junior guard Marcus Lenker are three-time GNAC All-Academic honorees. Lenker owns a 3.53 GPA as a mechanical engineering major while Larsen holds a 3.48 as a journalism and public communications major. The team also features 15 two-time honorees

To qualify for the GNAC All-Academic Teams nominees must be of sophomore eligibility or greater, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.20 or greater on a 4.00 scale, on the team roster for the full season and must be in their second year at the nominating institution.
