BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Western Washington University men’s basketball standout Trevor Jasinsky has signed a professional contract to play for Basketball Academy Limburg in the Netherlands.

Jasinsky was a four-year standout for the Vikings, capping his career as a First Team All-GNAC and All-West Region selection as a senior in 2019-20.

Basketball Academic Limburg plays in the Dutch Basketball League (DBL) and is based out of Weert in the southeastern Netherlands located in the western part of the province of Limburg. Jasinsky is expected to join his new team in the middle of August in preparation for the 2020 season.

“I feel extremely blessed to get this opportunity and can’t wait to start my professional career,” said Jasinsky. “There are so many people to thank that have helped in this process – my family, teammates, coaches, trainers, support staff – it’s been a true team effort and honored I get to take this next step in my basketball career.”

During his four-year playing career at Western Washington, the versatile 6-8 forward played in all 120 games possible, including 89 consecutive starts from his sophomore through senior seasons. Jasinsky finished with 1,518 career points, the eighth-most in WWU history and the 20th in the 19-year history of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. His name also lines the WWU record book with the sixth-most rebounds (589) and 3-pointers (197) in program history. He is one of five Western players to rank in the top-10 in both scoring and rebounding.

His lengthy award list includes a pair of First Team All-GNAC honors as a junior and senior, two All-West Region awards and was selected as the 2019-20 WWU co-Male Athlete of the Year. A standout student-athlete, Jasinsky was a three-time GNAC All-Academic selection and earned a pair of CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 honors. He graduated from WWU in March with a degree in marketing.

“Trevor was a remarkable player for us during his career, but was an even better leader in our program and a really strong student-athlete,” said WWU head coach Tony Dominguez. “There is no doubt in my mind he will be successful on this next journey in his basketball career and we can’t wait to follow his success like so many other Vikings have had professionally.”

During his senior season in 2019-20, Jasinsky led the Vikings to a 20-10 record and the GNAC Championships title. He averaged a team-best 14.8 points per game, while also contributing 5.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.1 steals per game. He scored in double-digits in 25 of 30 games, including eight games with 20-or-more points. During the GNAC Championships he averaged 19.5 points per game to earn tournament MVP honors.
