UAA's Thompson Super 16; Three GNAC Teams In Top 25

PORTLAND, Ore. - Alaska Anchorage guard Travis Thompson has been named to  the Division II Bulletin's Super 16 pre-season All-American basketball team.

Thompson finished second in the GNAC in scoring last season, averaging 21.3 points per game.  He made 109 of 259 three-pointers and also shot 89.2 percent from the foul line.

Three GNAC teams earned Top 25 pre-season national rankings by the publication.

On the men's side, Western Washington is ranked ninth and Seattle Pacific is ranked 22nd. 

On the women's side, WWU received a No. 15 pre-season national ranking.  Among the returning players for the Viking women is Katie Colard who led the team in scoring a year ago averaging 14.7 points.

Alaska Anchorage was listed among "others to watch" in both the men's and women's division.

The GNAC Coaches pre-season polls for both the men and women will be released next week.
