PORTLAND, Ore. - Brad Barbarick is stepping down as the head men's basketball coach at Concordia University after 25 years on the sidelines in the Navy & White.  Barbarick has guided the Cavaliers to 375 wins the past 25 years, including guiding Concordia to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) Basketball Championships Tournament two years ago in their second year in the conference.

"Coach Barbarick has dedicated 25 years to Concordia University," said Vice President & Director of Athletics Lauren Eads. "Under his leadership, the men's basketball program has produced a long list of alumni who have graduated from Concordia and proceeded to make incredible impacts within their communities. His focus on character and academic success will remain pillars of our program."

During his tenure at Concordia, Barbarick has coached 44 all-conference players, 12 NAIA Division II All-Americans and 14 NAIA Academic All-Americans.

The two years prior to joining the GNAC, Barbarick guided the Cavs to back to back 20-win seasons including a school record 25 wins during the 2014-15 campaign.  During that season, the Cavs advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NAIA Division II National Tournament.

Since joining the GNAC, seven players have earned all-conference honors and 19 have received academic all-conference honors.  For the past two seasons, the Cavaliers have had the player with the highest grade point average on the academic all-conference men's basketball team in Taylor Harris (2017-18) and Jarrett Gray (2018-19).  Concordia also has been a member of the NABC Honors Court for the past three consecutive years.

The search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
