Throughout the year, GNACsports.com will occasionally use this space to gain insight into the experiences of former GNAC student-athletes who were active participants in their institutional Student-Athlete Advisory Committees (SAAC). Each institution's SAAC serves as the primary governance arm representing student-athlete interests in Division II affairs. SAAC members serve as student-athlete liaisons that monitor and discuss happenings on campuses, within conferences, and at the national level.

What is your current occupation?: I am the Associate Commissioner for Championships and Sport Administration at the Sun Belt Conference. I oversee all of our championship events and work with coaches to ensure all regular season regulations and protocols are followed.

What is your favorite memory as a student-athlete and why?: I was a part of the first team in Saint Martin's history to make it to the GNAC Championships for baseball when I was a senior. Finding out we clinched a spot in the tournament would be my top moment. We did not have a ton of success in my previous seasons, so making the tournament and celebrating with teammates was something I will never forget. And that is where my journey to work in championships began, with that experience.

How many years were you involved in SAAC?: I was involved for all four years. In my sophomore year, I was selected to represent the GNAC on the Division II National SAAC for three years.

What activity/project are you most proud of from your time in SAAC?: At the institutional level, we really revamped our SAAC and became more involved on campus. We organized the Saints Cup, a canned food drive, and even a pre-game concert. At the conference level, being able to meet on campus was something special. We were fortunate to be able to go to a few different campuses and see different schools. Finally, at the national level, our group was a driving force in getting a vote for the student-athletes at the NCAA Convention which helped to strengthen the student-athlete voice.

What has been your biggest takeaway from SAAC?: I think it helped to prepare me for the industry. It helped form my perspective on the importance of the student-athlete experience and that administrators want to hear from the student-athletes to make it an even better experience. I also got to meet a bunch of great people who we still keep in contact with to this day.

What advice would you give to yourself as a freshman in college?: Continue to take advantage of every opportunity. There is so much to do and experience in college and the more experiences you get, the better person you become.

What is one thing that you wish you would have done more of in college?: I wish I would've taken more advantage of the resources (i.e. training room, weight room, food) that are available to a student-athlete.

What is one thing that you wish you would have done less of in college?: Probably eating less Wendy's and more good food.

Favorite sports team: My favorite sports team is the Colorado Avalanche. I lived in Colorado during the late '90s when they were good and have now made a return.

Favorite athlete: Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche.

What is one thing that people don't know about you?: I enjoy being out in nature and camping/fly fishing. There is not a lot of opportunity to do that in New Orleans.
