SEATTLE – Christian Bond, a Puget Sound-area native who has worked in sports information and athletic communications at two other Pacific Northwest schools, is joining Seattle Pacific University as Associate Athletics Director for Communications.

Bond comes to the Falcons from Fresno Pacific University, an NCAA Division II West Region school in the Pacific West Conference. He has been with the Sunbirds for the past two years.

Previously, Bond was a graduate assistant for athletic communications at fellow Great Northwest Athletic Conference member Central Washington, where he completed his master's degree in athletic administration. He earned his bachelor's degree in communication at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, and while there was a student assistant for sports information for three years.

"I'm thrilled to be a part of Seattle Pacific athletics," Bond said. "It's a group focused on providing their student-athletes everything they need to be successful in all aspects of their college experience. I hope to add to that experience with our communications efforts by continuing to celebrate their accomplishments and tell their stories in every way available.

"Returning to an area I'm incredibly connected to is an added bonus," Bond added. "My family and I can't wait to be with the Falcons in the Pacific Northwest."

Seattle Pacific Athletic Director Jackson Stava is looking forward to Bond being a solid fit with the Falcons.

"I am very excited to welcome Christian to the Falcon family," Stava said. "His Pacific Northwest connections, professionalism, character, and capability as a content creator make him a wonderful fit for this position.  I know our fans and student-athletes will benefit greatly from his work and we cannot wait to have Christian and his family on campus very soon."

Bond will take over for Dan Lepse, who has served as the assistant athletic director/sports information director for the past 14 years. Lepse has been in the industry for 40 years overall. He has covered everything from a national championship football team at the University of Washington to a national championship women's soccer team at Seattle Pacific, and multiple other sports and athletes, as well.

"I have all the respect in the world for Dan Lepse and certainly wish him the best in this next chapter of life," Stava said. "Dan was instrumental in my integration to SPU as he supported myself, our coaches, and staff with incredible wisdom, service, and faithfulness to the university and department mission.  Dan is an incredible man, husband, father and professional, and I know we are all better because of our time with him."
