PORTLAND, Ore. – A career week for Saint Martin’s Claire Dingus and a pair of consistent offensive efforts for Seattle Pacific’s Harry Cavell has earned the duo selection as the GNAC’s Basketball Players of the Week.

Dingus, a junior forward, was named GNAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week after posting a pair of 20-plus point scoring performances in the Saints’ road games at Northwest Nazarene. On Friday, Dingus led Saint Martin’s to the 69-64 victory with a huge double-double of 28 points and 16 rebounds, both career highs. She connected on 9 of 13 from the field and 6 of 8 from the free throw line.

Dingus led all scorers with 28 points in Saturday’s 85-69 loss. She made 13 of 16 from the field and also finished with six rebounds. For the week, Dingus averaged 26.5 points and 11 rebounds per game, making 75.9 percent of her shots from the field, 50 percent from three-point range and 77.8 percent from the free throw line.

Saint Martin’s will play five of its next six games in Lacey, beginning this week with a two-game series against Seattle Pacific on Thursday and Friday.

Cavell became the 38th 1,000-point scorer in SPU history as he averaged 24 points and 11 rebounds in the Falcons’ two wins over No. 4 (NAIA) ranked Lewis-Clark State. Cavell eclipsed the 1,000-point plateau with a 30-point, 11-rebound effort in Wednesday’s 82-65 victory. He connected on 11 of 16 from the field, 4 of 6 from three-point range and 4 of 4 from the free throw line to go with two blocks and three assists.

Cavell added a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds in Thursday’s 82-79 overtime win. For the week, Cavell connected on 68 percent from the field, 60 percent from the three-point line and 88.9 percent from the free throw line.

Seattle Pacific will finish a string of three games against non-GNAC opponents on Wednesday, hosting Northwest (Wash.).

In Wednesday’s 82-65 win, Cavell registered a double-double of 30 points and 11 rebounds as he surpassed the 1,000-point barrier. He scored 21 of those points in the first half has he made 11 of 16 from the field, 4 of 6 from three-point range and 4 of 4 from the free throw line with three steals and two blocks. Cavell added a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds in Thursday’s 82-79 overtime win, making 6 of 9 from the field, 2 of 4 from three-point range and 4 of 5 from the free throw line. Dingus turned in a monster double-double of 25 points and 16 rebounds, both career highs, in Friday’s 69-64 victory. She made 9 of 13 from the field and 6 of 8 from the free throw line to go with five assists. In Saturday’s loss to the Nighthawks, Dingus led all scorers with 28 points on 13 of 16 from the field and had six rebounds, an assist and a steal. For the week, Dingus averaged 26.5 points per game and shot 75.9 percent from the field and 50 percent from long range.
