PORTLAND, Ore. – Despite the shock of having seasons suspended, Western Oregon junior Tyler Creach and Central Washington junior Lexie Strasser turned in a pair of solid performances to lead the GNAC Player of the Week awards.

Creach was named the Softball Player of the Week after she went 4 for 7 with two runs, two RBI and two doubles to lead the Wolves to a doubleheader sweep of Montana State Billings in Monmouth on Thursday. Creach went 2 for 4 in the opener and scored two runs in the 4-0 shutout. She then went 2 for 3 in the nightcap and batted in the winning runs on a double in the fifth inning for a 4-2 victory over the Yellowjackets.

Strasser earned Softball Pitcher of the Week honors after she threw a complete-game three-hit shutout to beat Western Washington in Thursday’s second game, 1-0. Strasser allowed the three hits and three walks while striking out four. She allowed just three runners to advance past first base to improve to 5-1 on the season.

Simon Fraser senior Scott Kerr was named the Men’s Golf Player of the Week after he finished in sixth place to lead all GNAC players at the NDNU Invitational. Kerr carded a three-round score of 2-over-par 218. He carded his lowest rounds on the first day of competition, recording a 1-under-par 71 in the first round and even-par 72 in the second round.

Saint Martin’s freshman Kathryn Crimp was selected as the Women’s Golf Player of the Week after she tied for ninth place at the Augustana Spring Fling. Crimp carded a two-round score of 157, which included a low round of 1-under-par 71 on the second day.

(Western Oregon, UT, 5-3, Jr., Bend, Ore. – Rex Putnam): Creach went 4 for 7 with two runs, two RBI and two doubles to lead the Wolves to a doubleheader sweep of Montana State Billings on Thursday. Creach went 2 for 4 in the opener, scoring runs in the first and third innings of the 4-0 victory. She also went 2 for 3 in the nightcap and hit a two-run double in the fifth that scored the winning runs in the 4-2 victory. Also Nominated: Sydney Brown (Central Washington), Kylie Lopez (Saint Martin’s), Anna Kasner (Western Washington).

(Central Washington, P, 6-2, Jr., Chehalis, Wash. – W.F. West): Strasser threw a complete-game three-hitter in the second game of Thursday’s doubleheader against Western Washington, which the Wildcats won 1-0. She allowed three hits and three walks, striking out four to improve to 5-1 on the season. She allowed just three runners past first base. Also Nominated: Brandi Schoessler (Saint Martin’s), Chandler Bishop (Western Oregon), Anna Kasner (Western Washington).

MEN’S GOLF
Scott Kerr
(Simon Fraser, Sr., Vancouver, B.C. – Kitsilano): Kerr was the top-placing GNAC player at the NDNU Invitational, finishing in sixth place with a three-round score of 2-over-par 218. He carded his best rounds on the first day, recording a 1-under-par 71 in the first round and even-par 72 in the second round. Kerr led the Clan to a fourth-place team finish.

WOMEN’S GOLF

(Saint Martin’s, Fr., Ellensburg, Wash. – Ellensburg): Crimp was the Saints’ leading player at the Augustana Spring Fling in Palm Desert, California, tying for ninth place with a two-round score of 157. She carded a low round of 1-under-par 71 on the second day. Also Nominated: Elise Sumner (Western Washington).
