PORTLAND, Ore. – GNAC Insider returned Tuesday at 7 p.m. (PT) as the winter sports season approaches its peak. Among the episode’s guests were two standout athletes and a new face in the conference community.

Following a stellar freshman campaign in track and field last year, Saint Martin’s Keshara Romain joined the show. Romain is the reigning GNAC Track and Field Female Freshman of the Year and a U.S. Track and Field & Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-West Region selection in both the indoor and outdoor seasons, competing in 200 meters, long jump and triple jump for the Saints.

Romain placed fourth in the triple jump and fifth in the long jump at last year’s GNAC Indoor Track and Field Championships. She then placed second in the triple jump at the GNAC Outdoor Championships before placing 14th in the event at the NCAA Division II Championships.

Helping to lead the Seattle Pacific men’s basketball team to an 8-0 start in conference play, sophomore guard Divant’e Moffitt joined the show. Moffitt is averaging 14.7 points and 3.3 rebounds per game this season while shooting 50.3 percent from the field, 31.4 percent from three-point range and 78.4 percent from the free throw line.

Moffitt ranks 11th in the GNAC in scoring after putting up a career-high 30 points in Saturday’s win over Montana State Billings, connecting on 13 of 22 from the field. Since losing their first four games of the season, the Falcons have won 12 straight, the third-longest winning streak in program history, and sit atop the conference standings.

In just his second month of work on the Concordia campus, Cavaliers’ vice president and director of intercollegiate athletics Matt Martin also joined the show. Martin spent the last three years at Division I Winthrop, where his primary duties included overseeing all aspects of the athletic department’s external units. Martin’s first day of work at Concordia was Dec. 9.
