PORTLAND, Ore. – Guests for episode 63 of GNAC Insider included Alaska Anchorage javelin thrower Cody Parker, Western Oregon sprinter Cody Warner and Montana State Billings baseball coach Rob Bishop

Parker is in his junior season with the Seawolves track and field team. The Geological Sciences major has an impressive resume heading into this seasons GNAC Championships. He was named the GNAC Freshman of the Year in 2012, collecting an all-American honor with a third-place finish and league-record toss of over 232 feet. His sophomore year he became the third Seawolf ever to capture an NCAA individual title with the NCAA Division II’s second best javelin throw ever at the national meet. After sitting out last season due to injury, Parker is trying for the third time to win the GNAC individual javelin title, an honor he won his freshman year. Parker discussed his year to this point and how he recovered from an elbow injury last season.

Warner is in his freshman year running for the Wolves. Starting the year on the right foot, Warner ran two of the best sprint times in GNAC history, sweeping the 100 and 200 meters at the Willamette Opener in early March. Since then, the Springfield, Ore., native has garnered the top GNAC time in the 200-meters. The freshman also ranks in the top 20 in three other events, including third in the 100-meters. Warner will be running in his first GNAC Championships this weekend at his home track in Monmouth. Warner talked about the advantage of running on his home track and about his passion for learning anything and everything about his sport.

Bishop is in his fifth season with the Yellowjackets. End of the year awards were unveiled Monday as coach Bishop was named the GNAC Coach of the Year while Yellowjacket Brody Miller was selected as the Player of the Year for the second-straight season. Both selections were unanimous. The best offensive team in the GNAC, the Yellowjackets won 10 of their last 13 games to reach the postseason for the first time since 2013. Last weekend, MSUB won it’s first-ever GNAC regular-season title and earned the right to host the GNAC Championships May 7-8. Bishop discussed his players all-conference honors and how MSUB will fair in the GNAC Championships.

GNAC Insider airs live at 7 p.m. Pacific time every Tuesday and is produced by the conference office. All episodes become available as free podcasts via iTunes, and for archived listening via GNAC.TV.
