PORTLAND, Ore. -  A 41-point single-game performance, the third best in GNAC history, and a pair of career record setting marks, has earned Erin Chambers GNAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honors.

The Simon Fraser senior standout is one of 10 athletes to earn the GNAC weekly honor.

Following is a summary of their accomplishments along with a listing of honorable mention honorees for the Week of Feb. 8-14:

Women’s Basketball – Erin Chambers, Simon Fraser (F, 6-1, Sr., Mission, BC – Heritage Park) scored 60 points, 47.2 percent of the Clan’s team total, and set two conference records, as SFU divided two road games to clinch a berth in next month’s conference playoffs.   In the two contests, she made 21 of 42 shots, including 5-of-14 three-pointers, and 13 of 16 foul shots.  She also had eight rebounds.  Chambers set GNAC records for most career points, increasing her career total to 1,842, and most career free throws (446).  She also increased her career three-point total to 206, which ranks seventh in GNAC history. She had 41 points in a 82-75 win at Saint Martin’s, recording just the fourth 40-point game in conference history.  Her total is the third most.

Honorable Mention – Kayleen Goggins, MSU Billings (F, 6-1, Sr., Shepherd, MT);  Taylor Simmons, Northwest Nazarene (G, 5-8, Jr., Middleton, ID); Liz Mills, Saint Martin’s (F, 5-11, Sr., Covington, WA); Suzanna Ohlsen, Seattle Pacific (G, 5-7, Sr., Monroe, WA); Dana Goularte, Western Oregon (F, 6-0, Sr., Port Orchard, WA – South Kitsap); Taylor Peacocke, Western Washington (G, 5-9, So., Kenmore, WA – Inglemoor & Sacramento State).

Men’s Basketball - Cory Hutsen, Seattle Pacific (C, 6-8, Sr., Sammamish, WA - Skyline) scored 43 points, including 23 in a 73-72 overtime win at Alaska Anchorage Saturday as the Falcons kept alive their chances to earn a first-round bye in next month’s conference playoffs with two victories.  Hutsen, who made 11 of 15 shots against the Seawolves, scored a basket with 2:18 left in overtime to give SPU its final lead at 70-68.   In two wins in Alaska, Hutson made 20 of 29 field goal attempts and also had nine rebounds and a team-best three blocks helping SPU limit the Seawolves and Alaska Nanooks to a combined 40.7 shooting percentage.

Honorable Mention – Dom Williams, Central Washington (G, 5-11, Sr., Tacoma, WA – Curtis & Tacoma CC); Marc Matthews, MSU Billings (G, 6-2, So., Sierra Vista, AZ – Buena); Alex Birektoft, Northwest Nazarene (F, 6-8, Fr., Oelstykke, Denmark); Victor Ieronymides, Saint Martin’s (F, 6-6, Fr., Nicosia, Cyprus); Justin Cole, Simon Fraser (G, 6-4, Sr., Los Angeles, CA – Chaffey CC); Andy Avgi, Western Oregon (F, 6-6, Jr., Woodburn, OR); Jeffrey Parker, Western Washington (F, 6-6, So., Richmond, CA – Salesian).

Softball: Player  -  Alicia Fine, Western Washington (SS, 5-6, Sr., Mount Vernon, WA – Portland State), batted .500 (10-of-20) and drove in 14 runs as the Vikings won four of six games in Las Vegas.  Among her 10 hits, were four doubles and three home runs as she posted a 1.150 slugging percentage.  She walked three times and didn’t strikeout out.  Pitcher – Lindsey Kamphuis, Central Washington (5-10, Fr., Kennewick, WA - Kamiakin) won two games allowing just 15 hits in 18 innings as the Wildcats won four of five games to open their season.  Her first win was a 10-3 complete-game conquest of No. 19 ranked Humboldt State.

Honorable Mention – Taylor Hoke, MSU Billings (SS, 5-2, Sr., Chehalis, WA – Adna); Brianna Kinghorn, Northwest Nazarene (1B-3B, 5-6, Sr.,Meridian, ID – Mountain View); Ashley Pesek, Northwest Nazarene (P-1B, 5-9, So., Redmond, OR); Taviah Jenkins, Saint Martin’s (OF, 5-8, Sr., Castle Rock, WA);  Sam Munger, Saint Martin’s (P-SS, 5-6, Sr., Everett, WA); Destiny Kuehl, Western Oregon (3B, 5-8, So., Portland, OR – David Douglas).

Baseball: Player – Chandler Tracy, Saint Martin’s (C, 6-2, Sr., Bellevue, WA - Liberty) had five hits in 15 at bats, including three solo home runs as the Saints won one of four games at the College of Idaho.  The home runs were the 34th, 35th and 36th of his career, seven more than anyone else has hit in conference history.  His career slugging average of .613 ranks ninth.  He also drew five walks, earning a .500 on-base percentage.  Pitcher –Jake Reppert, Northwest Nazarene (6-5, Sr., Monroe, WA – Bellevue CC) scattered five hits and struck out five in pitching the Crusaders to a 6-0 shutout of Hawaii Pacific.  It was his first career win for the Crusaders.

Honorable Mention – Cory Welch, Central Washington (P, 6-0, Sr., Las Vegas, NV – Bishop Gorman); Jesse Hilyard, Northwest Nazarene (C-OF, 6-4, Fr., Klamath Falls, OR – Henley); Garret Harpole, Western Oregon (3B, 6-1, 205, Sr., Elmira, OR – North Eugene); Zach Carter, Saint Martin’s (P, 6-0, Sr., Camas, WA); Garrett Alvarez, Western Oregon (P, 6-2, 170, Jr., Madera, CA – West Hills).

Men’s Track and Field: Track – Travis Milbrandt, Western Washington (Jr., Longview, WA – Mark Morris) finished third in the 60 hurdles in the Husky Classic Saturday at the Dempsey Indoor in a GNAC record time of 8.09, shaving .11 seconds off his own record.  The top two finishers were athletes from the University of Washington and California.  His time ranks 17th in Division II. Field – Payton Lewis, Northwest Nazarene (Fr., Nampa, ID – Nampa Christian) became just the second GNAC athlete to clear 17 feet in the pole vault, finishing second at the Boise State Team Challenge in Nampa with a vault of 17-0 ¾.  That performance is the third best in NCAA Division II this winter and ranks second in GNAC history.

Honorable Mention – Joe Day, Alaska Anchorage (Jr., Palmer, AK); Rimar Christie, Northwest Nazarene (Sr., St, Michael, Barbados); Cole Hoberg, Northwest Nazarene (So., Prairie City, OR); Frank Krause, Saint Martin’s (Sr., Onalaska, WA); Joey Keeton, Saint Martin’s (Sr., Yakima, WA);  Kegan Allen, Western Oregon (Fr., Monmouth, OR – Dallas); Brady Beagley, Western Oregon (Sr., Grants Pass, OR – North Valley).

Women’s Track and Field: Track – Jennifer Johnson, Simon Fraser (Sr., Corvallis) established an automatic national  qualifying time in the 3,000 meters in the Husky Classic Saturday at the Dempsey Indoor.  Johnson ran a time of 9:28.24, bettering the national automatic standard by more than five seconds.  Her time ranks second in GNAC history and was exactly five seconds shy of the GNAC record of 9:23.24 by Seattle Pacific’s Jessica Pixler in 2009. Field – Tayler Fettig, Central Washington (Sr., Olympia, WA) placed second in the high jump at the University of Washington Open with a provisional national qualifying jump of 5-8, moving into eighth place on the TFRRSS national performance list.
