Part of a regular series.
Throughout the year, GNACsports.com uses this space to profile conference student-athletes who are members of their respective institutions’ Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). In addition to providing feedback on the student-athlete experience, conference and institutional SAAC members also offer input on the rules, regulations and policies that affect student-athletes’ lives on NCAA member institution campuses.

Why did you choose to attend SFU?: When I was nine years old I attended a Simon Fraser soccer camp hosted by its alumni, one of whom would end up being my coach when I joined the program in 2020. From then on I knew that Simon Fraser was the school I wanted to attend. It has been the perfect place for me to further myself as both a student and athlete, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow here.
What is your favorite class you have taken in college and why?: Introduction to Theories of Personality has been my favorite class so far. This course made me think more than any other I have taken thus far and I was excited to learn more than what was required to succeed in the course. Every lecture and reading was incredibly interesting and I found myself eager to apply what I had learned to my own experiences in life and sport even when I had closed my books for the day!
How many years were you involved in SAAC?: Two years.
What made you want to be involved in SAAC?: Being a successful student-athlete is no easy task and I loved the idea of contributing to a committee that sought to improve our experience by working to provide us with more resources and opportunities to be a part of something greater!
What is your most memorable SAAC activity to date?: Simon Fraser SAAC recently hosted a Special Olympics Basketball match at our home court! This was such a rewarding event to be a part of and I couldn't help but feel caught up in a contagious sense of joy that filled the gym that day. It was a great example of the power of sport to bring people together and create lasting memories!
