PORTLAND, Ore. – The GNAC Baseball Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year are adding another award to their resumes as Central Washington junior outfielder Adam Fahsel and Western Oregon junior pitcher Arturo Alvarez were named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings All-West Region First Team.

It is the third First Team All-West Region award for Fahsel, who also earned the honor from the Division II Conference Coaches Association (D2CCA) and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA). Alvarez was also named to the first team by the D2CCA and was a second-team selection by the NCBWA.

Fahsel was named the GNAC Player of the Year after a season of prolific offensive production for the Wildcats. Fahsel finished the season batting .351 with a .580 slugging percentage and a .459 on-base percentage to go with eight home runs and 44 RBI. He led the conference in runs scored (58) and slugging percentage and was ranked second in batting average, RBI, doubles (17) and walks (30).

Alvarez, who was named the GNAC Pitcher of the Year, went undefeated during the regular season and finished with a 7-2 record and a league-low 3.18 earned run average in 13 starts. He held opponents to a .221 batting average, allowing 34 runs, 25 earned, on 58 hits with 52 strikeouts in 70.2 innings pitched.
