PORTLAND, Ore. – After ranking among the conference’s top hitters and helping keep Western Oregon in contention for a GNAC Championships berth until the final day of the season. Wolves senior shortstop Logan Carlos leads eight GNAC selections to the all-West Region selections by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) and the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA).

Carlos was a consensus first-team selection by both organizations. She finished the season leading the GNAC with 65 hits and ranked fourth with a .380 batting average. One of the conference’s top extra-base threats, Carlos led the GNAC and was ranked 18th in Division II with six triples. She was also tied for fourth in the GNAC with 10 home runs.

Western Washington senior Chantelle Shimabukuro was named to the NFCA first team and the D2CCA second team at second base while Saint Martin’s sophomore Malia Pinder was named to the D2CCA first team as a utility player.

Consensus second-team selections from the GNAC included Simon Fraser junior Alex Ogg at third base, Northwest Nazarene senior shortstop Ivy Hommel and Nighthawks’ sophomore Sidney Booth, who was named as a utility player. Western Washington senior Dakota Brooks was named to the D2CCA second team at first base while Saint Martin’s freshman Chloe Leverington was selected as pitcher.

Shimabukuro finished second in the GNAC with a .401 batting average and 63 hits and was tied for third with three triples. A starter in 50 of 51 games played, Shimabukuro finished with nine doubles, three homes, 30 RBI and a .554 slugging percentage.

Pinder finished the season ranked fifth in the GNAC with a .377 batting average as she helped lead the Saints to the GNAC Championships final. She was tied for sixth in the conference with 58 hits and was seventh with 38 RBI.

Ogg, the GNAC Player of the Year, led the conference with a .420 batting average and was ranked fourth with 60 hits and 36 runs scored. She also led the GNAC with 21 stolen bases on 21 attempts.

Hommel enters the NCAA West Regional ranked eighth in the GNAC with a .358 batting average and leads the conference with 56 runs scored. She is tied for sixth with eight home runs, tied for eighth with 37 RBI and has 21 stolen bases on 25 attempts.

Booth, the GNAC Pitcher of the Year, enters the West Regional leading the GNAC with 17 wins and a 1.76 earned run average. In 187 innings, Booth has allowed 68 runs, 47 earned, with 198 strikeouts. Her 26 complete games ranks second in Division II. At the plate, Booth is third in the GNAC with a .384 batting average and is tied for sixth with 58 hits.

Brooks finished the season ranked sixth in the conference with a .365 batting average and was ranked third with 61 hits. She led the GNAC with 16 doubles finished second with 105 total bases.

Leverington, who shared GNAC Freshman of the Year honors, finished the year ranked second in the GNAC with a 2.27 earned run average and was tied for the second with 13 wins. She appeared in 34 games, primarily as a reliever, and allowed 52 runs, 37 earned, and struck out 109 in 114 innings. She allowed just 15 walks and her 0.92 walks allowed per game is 18th in Division II.
