PORTLAND, Ore. – After taking three of four games over Saint Martin’s in the final weekend of the regular season, Central Washington freshman Austin Ohland and senior Dillon Larsen swept the GNAC’s Player of the Week awards.

Ohland was named the Baseball Player of the Week after he batted .375 in the three wins, going 6 for 16 with five runs, nine RBI, four doubles and a home run. The homer came in Thursday’s opener where he went 2 for 4 with the three-run shot in the first and had an RBI double in the seventh. In the series finale on Friday, Ohland went 3 for 4 and had a pair of two-run doubles.

Larsen was named the Baseball Pitcher of the Week after he allowed five runs, three earned, on six hits with four walks and eight strikeouts to win Thursday’s opener, 17-5. The win improved Larsen to 3-1 on the year.

Seattle Pacific swept the women’s soccer awards after posting a 4-1 win over Western Washington on Wednesday, snapping a 21-match winless streak against the Vikings. Senior Claire Neder was named the Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week after she scored two goals in the match, including the game-winner in the 68th minute. Junior Ava Giavanola was named the Defensive Player of the Week. She finished with two assists while anchoring the SPU backline that limited Western Washington to two shots on goal.

The Falcons’ Travis Swallow received the Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award after he scored the team’s lone goal in a 1-1 tie with Western Washington on Saturday. It was one of two shots he had in the match and was his second goal of the season. Western Washington senior Camron Miller was the Defensive Player of the Week after he played all 110 minutes and scored the game-tying goal in the 89th minute.

Western Washington succeeded in a sweep of the volleyball awards after going 2-1 against the Falcons in the final matches of the 2020-21 season. Freshman Kylie Honrud was named the Offensive Player of the Week after averaged 3.60 kills per set over the weekend, topped by 17 kills and a .243 hitting percentage in Saturday’s second match. Sophomore Kasey Woodruff was tabbed as the Defensive Player of the Week after she averaged 4.36 digs per set in the three matches, which included 18 on Friday in Seattle.

BASEBALL PLAYER
Austin Ohland
(Central Washington, C, 6-1, Fr., Maple Valley, Wash. – Lafayette): Ohland batted .375 in the four-game series with Saint Martin’s, going 6 for 16 with five runs, nine RBI, four doubles and a home run. Ohland opened the series by going 2 for 4 in Thursday’s opener, which included a three-run first-inning homer and an RBI double in the seventh in the 17-5 win. He closed the series by going 3 for 4 with four runs, four RBI and three doubles in Friday’s 11-5 victory. His day included a pair of two-run doubles in the third and fourth.

BASEBALL PITCHER
Dillon Larsen
(Central Washington, P, 6-5, Sr., Ellensburg, Wash. – Virginia Tech): Larsen earned his third win of the season in Thursday’s 17-5 series-opening victory. In five innings, he allowed five runs, three earned, on six hits with four walks and eight strikeouts.

MEN’S SOCCER OFFENSIVE
Travis Swallow
(Seattle Pacific, M, 5-8, Sr., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho – Lake City): Swallow scored the Falcons’ lone goal in Saturday’s 1-1 tie with Western Washington, connecting on his second goal of the season in the seventh minute. Swallow finished with two shots in the match and played 92 minutes in the conference’s men’s soccer season finale.

MEN’S SOCCER DEFENSIVE
Camron Miller
(Western Washington, D, 6-4, Sr., Snohomish, Wash. – Whatcom CC): Miller played all 110 minutes to anchor the Western Washington backline in Saturday’s 1-1 season-ending tie with Seattle Pacific. He also accounted for the game-tying goal off of Gus Diehl’s assist in the 89th minute.

WOMEN’S SOCCER OFFENSIVE
Claire Neder
(Seattle Pacific, M, 5-7, Sr., Spokane, Wash. – Mead): Neder scored twice to help lead the Falcons to a 4-1 win over Western Washington on Wednesday. Neder scored the game-winning goal in the 68th minute off of assists from Sophia Chilczuk and Chloe Gellhaus. Neder closed off the four-goal second half barrage when she scored unassisted in the 85th minute as Seattle Pacific snapped a 21-match winless streak against the Vikings.

WOMEN’S SOCCER DEFENSIVE
Ava Giovanola
(Seattle Pacific, D, 5-6, Jr., Sammamish, Wash. – Skyline): Not only did Giovanola help anchor a Seattle Pacific backline that limited Western Washington to just two shots on goal in Wednesday’s 4-1 victory, she also finished with two assists. She had the pass on the Falcons’ opening goal of the match in the 56th minute and then assisted on Sophia Chilczuk’s strike in the 80th minute.

VOLLEYBALL OFFENSIVE
Kylie Honrud
(Western Washington, OH, 6-0, R-Fr., Ferndale, Wash. – Ferndale): Honrud averaged 3.60 kills per set as the Vikings went 2-1 against Seattle Pacific to close the 2020-21 season. Honrud shared the team lead with 14 kills to go with two digs and two blocks in Saturday’s first-match four-set win. She then led the Vikings with 17 kills and a .243 hitting percentage to go with three digs and a block in the second-match win, also in four sets.

VOLLEYBALL DEFENSIVE
Kasey Woodruff
(Western Washington, DS/L, 5-6, So., University Place, Wash. – Curtis): Woodruff led Western Washington with 4.36 digs and 0.27 aces per set in the closing weekend with Seattle Pacific. Woodruff opened with 18 digs and two aces in Friday’s loss at Seattle Pacific. On Saturday, Woodruff posted totals of 12 digs and an ace in the opening match and 12 digs in the second match, both four-set wins.
