BURNABY, B.C. – The Pacific Football Club of the Canadian Premier League announced today that they have signed SFU standout Matteo Polisi for the 2021 season. Polisi, along with his brother Marcello, is one of the most decorated players in the history of the school, racking up numerous achievements during his tenure on Burnaby Mountain. The Coquitlam product finishes his SFU career with 36 goals and 18 assists for 90 points in 52 games. He is tied for 12th all-time in scoring and 11th in goals in SFU history.

During his three seasons, Polisi was a three-time First Team All-GNAC selection, received D2CCA All-West Region honors three times and was also named DII West Region Player of the Year during the 2018 season. Polisi was a two-time NCAA Division II All-American.

Head coach Clint Schneider is looking forward to seeing another SFU player make the leap to the professional levels.

"It is an exciting and proud day for our SFU soccer family," Schneider said. "Matteo has been a big part of our success these last years and has been an outstanding teammate and someone who lived and breathed what our program is about. My coaching staff and I are really fortunate that we get to work with some of the top footballing talents our province produces, and Matteo just adds his name to a long list of former SFU soccer players who are and will be playing at the next level. We are excited to watch his journey unfold in the CPL."

Polisi ends his career as one of the most accomplished players in GNAC history. He was named the GNAC Men's Soccer Freshman of the Year in 2017. In 2019, his last season with SFU, Polisi finished with eight goals, three assists and 19 points. His 0.53 goals per game in 2019 ranked second in the conference and his 1.27 points per game ranked third.

Polisi's 90 career points rank No. 7 on the GNAC all-time list and his 36 goals, including 10 game-winners, rank eighth. In just three seasons, Polisi's 25 goals in conference matches are second all-time behind Saint Martin's Brandon Madsen, the 2019 GNAC Men's Soccer Player of the Year.
