CLEVELAND – A total of 298 GNAC student-athletes from five conference institutions are among a record number of student-athletes to receive Academic Achievement Awards from the Division 2 Athletic Directors Association (D2 ADA).

The GNAC representatives are among a record 15,315 student-athletes from 201 institutions recognized as part of the program. Nominees must be at an institution with a current dues-paying member of D2 ADA, maintain a 3.5 cumulative GPA, have attended a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college-level work and have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during the last academic year.

Central Washington led GNAC institutions with 103 honorees. Central was followed by Western Washington (63), Montana State Billings (50), Western Oregon (43) and Simon Fraser (39).

Now in its 13th year, the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Awards are designed to recognize the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at the Division II level.

"In a year when we can use all of the good news, the D2 ADA Officers and Board of Directors are proud to recognize the highest number of student-athletes with the Academic Achievement Award than ever before," said D2 ADA President JR Smith, director of athletics at Chadron State College. "The nominations also came from a record number of institutions, showcasing the passion and dedication of our association and Division II as a whole."
