PORTLAND, Ore. – It is just the first indoor meet of her sophomore season, but Saint Martin’s Keshara Romain is making some serious waves that have her at the top of the GNAC Player of the Week list.

Romain was named the Women’s Field Athlete of the Week after she automatically qualified for the Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships in the triple jump and provisionally qualified in the long jump at the Jackson’s Open. She broke school records in both events.

Romain won the triple jump with a mark of 41 feet, 6 inches, which leads Division II, ranks No. 2 on the GNAC All-Time List and ranks seventh among all collegiate athletes. She then won the long jump with a mark of 18 feet, 10.75 inches, ranking her No. 7 on the GNAC All-Time List and ninth in Division II this season.

Central Washington junior Sidney Trinidad was named the Women’s Track Athlete of the Week after she provisionally qualified for nationals in the 400 meters at the Jackson’s Open. Her winning time of 56.19 seconds ranks No. 9 on the GNAC All-Time List and is No. 6 in Division II this season.

Northwest Nazarene senior Logan Blake was named the Men’s Track Athlete of the Week after winning the 600 meters at the Jackson’s Open in a time of 1:24.45 and third in the 200 meters in a time of 22.43 seconds. Central Washington senior Aidan Cain was named the Men’s Field Athlete of the Week after he won the weight throw with a mark of 55 feet, 3.5 inches and placed second in the shot put with a mark of 51 feet, 4.25 inches.

Central Washington swept both basketball weekly awards. Senior guard Gamaun Boykin was named the Men’s Basketball Player of the Week after he compiled just the fifth triple-double in GNAC history in the Wildcats’ 106-88 win over Multnomah on Saturday. Boykin finished with 20 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists, shooting 8 of 13 from the field and 4 of 4 from the free throw line. He was one of five CWU players to score in double figures in the win.

Sophomore center Samantha Bowman earned the Women’s Basketball Player of the Week after she posted a big double-double of 17 points and 17 rebounds in the Wildcats’ 75-52 win over Cal State LA on Saturday. Bowman shot 6 of 10 from the field and also had three blocks in the victory.

MEN’S BASKETBALL
Gamaun Boykin
(Central Washington, G, 6-3, Sr., Youngstown, Ohio – Yakima Valley CC): Boykin registered just the fifth triple-double in GNAC history to lead the Wildcats past Multnomah, 106-88, on Saturday. Boykin finished with 20 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists in 30 minutes of play, leading five CWU players to score in double figures. The GNAC’s last triple-double was accomplished by Western Oregon’s Tanner Omlid on Feb. 4, 2017 (18 points, 15 rebounds, 11 steals). Also Nominated: Jalen Green (Western Washington).

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Samantha Bowman
(Central Washington, C, 6-2, So., Zillah, Wash. – Zillah): Bowman came up with a big double-double of 17 points and 17 rebounds in the Wildcats’ 75-52 win over Cal State LA on Saturday. She connected on 6 of 10 from the field, 2 of 3 from three-point range and 3 of 3 from the free throw line to go with three blocks and an assist. Also Nominated: Hannah Collins (Montana State Billings), Erin Jenkins (Northwest Nazarene), Tierney DeDonatis (Saint Martin’s).

TRACK & FIELD
Men’s Track:
Logan Blake (Northwest Nazarene, Sr., Bend, Ore. – Bend): Blake opened his indoor season by winning the 600 meters at the Jackson’s Open with a time of 1:24.45. He went on to place third in the 200 meters in a time of 22.43 seconds. Also Nominated: Bobby Widmar (Central Washington), Michael Russell (Saint Martin’s).

Men’s Field: Aidan Cain (Central Washington, Sr., Monroe, Wash. – Monroe): Cain opened his 2019-20 season by winning the weight throw at the Jackson’s Open on Saturday, finishing with a throw of 55 feet, 3.5 inches. Cain also took second in the shot put with an effort of 51 feet, 4.25 inches. Also Nominated: Josh Schulz (Saint Martin’s).

Women’s Track: Sidney Trinidad (Central Washington, Jr., Arlington, Wash. – Arlington): Trinidad earned an NCAA Championships provisional qualifying mark with a second-place finish in the 400 meters at the Jackson’s Open. Her time of 56.19 seconds ranks No. 9 on the GNAC All-Time List and is No. 6 in Division II this season. The performance is Trinidad’s second provisional qualifier in the season after hitting a qualifying mark in the pentathlon last week.

Women’s Field: Keshara Romain (Saint Martin’s, So., Lacey, Wash. – Timberline): Romain opened the season by automatically qualifying for the NCAA Championships in the long jump and triple jump at the Jackson’s Open. She won the event with a mark of 41 feet, 6 inches. The mark ranks No. 1 in Division II this season by 16 inches and is No. 7 in all divisions. It also moves her to No. 2 on the GNAC All-Time List. Romain also won the long jump with a school-record mark of 18 feet, 10.75 inches, ranking her No. 7 on the GNAC All-Time List and ninth in Division II. Also Nominated: Halle Irvine (Central Washington).
