PORTLAND, Ore. - GNAC Insider returned Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. (PDT) with three guests talking college football and postseason basketball.
Leading off the program was CFB150 Executive Director Kevin Weiberg. CFB150 was formed to plan and administer a national celebration of 150 seasons of college football as the sport's anniversary approaches this fall. The commemoration will showcase the rich history and traditions of the sport while also promoting the opportunity it continues to provide to thousands of student-athletes across all levels of the game.
Weiberg has served in a number of leadership roles in collegiate sports over the past 40 years, working in various capacities at both the conference office and campus level before leading the team at the College Football 150th Anniversary. He was named the second commissioner in Big 12 history and was there from 1998 to 2007 while also serving as the deputy commissioner and chief operating officer of the Pac-10 and Pac-12 conferences from 2010-14.
Also joining the show was Coleman Wooten, a senior on the Seattle Pacific men's basketball team. Wooten is the reigning GNAC Championships MVP, fresh off a standout performance in which he recorded a double-double in his team's title-clinching victory on Saturday against Western Oregon.
It has been quite the season for the Falcons, winners of 12 straight games as they approach NCAA West Regional action this week in San Diego. Wooten has played a pivotal part in that winning streak, averaging a team-high 8.0 rebounds per game while scoring at a clip of 12.8 per game.
Seattle Pacific clinched the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Division II Tournament with its GNAC Championships title last week, earning a date with No. 7 seed Chaminade on Friday afternoon. Wooten joined the program to talk about the upcoming tournament and more ahead of a big month for his team.
Tuesday's show was rounded out by a visit from Northwest Nazarene women's basketball guard Avery Albrecht. Albrecht helped guide the Nighthawks to a GNAC Championships title and a No. 2 seed in the upcoming NCAA West Regional.
The junior is averaging a team-high 13.7 points per game as postseason play continues. Their run will continue on Friday afternoon in La Jolla, Calif. against No. 7 seed Humboldt State.
