PORTLAND, Ore. – The sixth episode of GNAC Insider included Kraig Akins, lineman on the Western Oregon football team; Bill Rapp, the Northwest Nazarene athletic director; and Anye Turner, forward on the Western Washington basketball team.

Akins is in his senior year playing on the Western Oregon defense. The Wolves are coming off their first conference win against Dixie State and are sitting in second place in the GNAC. Akins currently leads the team with 46 total tackles and 3.5 sacks on the year. He discussed the the tough road the Wolves have travelled to get to where they are and broke down the upcoming match-up against Central Washington.

Rapp is in his third year as the athletic director at Northwest Nazarene. This fall, the Crusaders men’s soccer team and volleyball team were ranked for the first time in school history and are in second and first place in the GNAC. Rapp talked about the performance from these two programs and about what his visions were for athletes at NNU.

Turner debuted the basketball discussions on the 2014 edition of GNAC Insider. A senior on Western Washington’s basketball team, the 6-7 forward started 25 games in 2013 averaging 8.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. Last year, he helped lead the Vikings to 13-5 conference record and a second place finish. Turner helped shed some light on this year’s Vikings squad in the interview.
