PORTLAND, Ore. - Four baseball players, two softball players and three track and field outdoor athletes have been selected as Red Lion Players of the Week.

They include:

Baseball: Player – Colby Robison, MSU Billings (SS, 6-1, 190, Rexburg, ID) and Daniel McNabb, Western Oregon (OF, 5-9, 175, Jr., Rancho Cucamonga, CA) led their respective teams to 3-1 series road victories... Robison had six hits in 16 at bats and drove in six runs as the Yellowjackets won three of four games at Saint Martin’s.  He also singled to drive in the tying run and scored the go-ahead run as MSUB scored four runs in the ninth to win the opener of the series 5-2 ... McNabb had eight hits in 14 at bats, including a pair of doubles and a triple, as the Wolves won three of four games at Nampa.  He also drove in five runs accounting for one-quarter of WOU’s RBIs against the Crusaders.  Pitchers – Brendan Jeffers, Saint Martin’s (6-4, 220, Sr., Issaquah, WA) and Spenser Watkins, Western Oregon (6-1, 185, Jr., Scottsdale, AZ) pitched scoreless baseball in wins against MSUB and NNU.  Jeffers blanked the Yellowjackets on three hits in a 4-0 win Friday.  He didn’t walk a batter and struck out five.   Watkins allowed just one hit in six innings lowering his ERA to a league-best 1.72 in combining with two relievers for a 11-0 win Friday at Northwest Nazarene.  

Softball: Player – Hannah Pomeroy, Western Oregon (P-1B, 5-6, Sr., Mossyrock, WA) hit three home runs and drove in six runs to power the Wolves to sweeps of MSU Billings and Saint Martin’s.  She had two blasts, including a grand slam in Friday’s 6-0 win over MSUB, then had a solo blast in Sunday’s 6-2 win against Saint Martin’s.  She also earned two wins in the circle, allowing just eight hits and two runs in 14 innings.  Pitcher – Cara Lukawesky, Simon Fraser (5-10, Sr., Coquitlam, BC) didn’t allow an earned run in 21 innings in pitching the Clan to wins over MSU Billings (7-1), Central Washington (6-0) and Northwest Nazarene (3-1).  She allowed just nine hits and a pair of unearned runs, while walking eight and fanning 13. Honorable Mention – Lacey McGladrey, Saint Martin’s; Lauren Mew, Simon Fraser; Jourdan Williams, Western Oregon.

Men’s  Outdoor Track & Field: Track – Dylan Anthony, Alaska Anchorage (So., Kodiak, AK)  grabbed the GNAC early-season lead in the 5,000 with a national qualifying time of 14:27.79 in the Ben Brown Invitational at Fullerton, Calif.  Anthony’s time ranks ninth in GNAC history.  Field – Franz Burghagen, Alaska Anchorage (Fr., Berlin, Germany) posted a NCAA Division II  automatic national qualifying mark in the javelin at Fullerton  with a throw of 230-7.  That mark ranks second in GNAC history.

Women’s Outdoor Track & Field:  Track – Ivy O’Guinn, Alaska Anchorage (Jr., Soldotna, AK) was one of three Seawolves to establish a provisional national qualifying mark in the 800 meters at the Southern Invitational in Birmingham, Ala.  A day after she anchored UAA’s distance medley relay team to a fifth-place national finish in the NCAA Indoor national meet with a time of 11:37.62, O’Guinn was clocked in a outdoor PNQ of 2:12.72 to take the early season conference lead in the event.
