Lyndon Rowells rushed for 223 yards and Humboldt State had 512 yards in total offense in defeating Central Washington 30-20 Saturday and ending the Wildcats' 21-game conference home win streak.

Western Oregon (4-3, 4-1) remained just one-half game back of the Lumberjacks (6-0, 4-0) in the conference race rallying from a 7-6 halftime deficit to defeat Simon Fraser 34-10.

In a non-conference game, Azusa Pacific (6-1), which will join the GNAC next season for football, toppled Dixie State 48-19.

Humboldt (6-0, 4-0) scored 23 consecutive points after the Wildcats (2-4, 2-3) had gone ahead 14-7 on a one-yard run by Levi Taylor with 9:10 left in the second quarter.

The 'Jacks got 10 of their points in the final two minutes of the first half, scoring on a 53-yard pass from Mike Proulx to Dirk Dallas and on a 47-yard field goal by Brian Blumberg as time expired to go ahead 16-14.

Rowells gave the 19th ranked 'Jacks a nine-point lead early in the third quarter, racing 67 yards to finish off a 10-play, 90-yard drive.

Rowells then scored on a one-yard run in the fourth period before Central finally got on the board again on a 17-yard pass from backup QB Jose Mohler to Justin Helwege with 1:58 remaining in the contest.

CWU got the ball back on a fumble recovery by Genesis Fenoimoana with 57 seconds left and Mohler completed passes of 51 yards to Armahd Lewis and 16 yards to Anthony Spain to bring the ball to the HSU 14.

But Kevin Cooper intercepted Mohler on fourth down in the end zone to secure the victory.

In addition to Rowells, Humboldt was led by Proulx, who completed 19 of 29 passes for 281 yards . Dallas had six catches for 132 yards. Justin Helwege had 12 catches for 130 yards for the Wildcats.

The loss was CWU's first-ever conference home loss since the GNAC was founded in 2001. The Wildcats had been 21-0 at home over that stretch.

Western Oregon 34, Simon Fraser 10

Robert Young had a 56-yard fumble return to set up a seven-yard touchdown run by quarterback Evan Mozzochi in the first quarter.

The Wolves, however, fell behind 7-6 at halftime as SFU quarterback Trey Wheeler tossed an 80-yard TD pass to Tore Corrado midway through the second period.

WOU drove 91 yards in nine plays to take a 13-7 lead in the third quarter on a three-yard run by Kenneth Haynes. SFU pulled to within three points on a 22-yard field goal by Ian Sternau in the final minute of the third period.

But the fourth quarter belonged to Western Oregon as Trevor Gates caught a 29-yard pass from Mozzochi, a 30-yard fumble return by Bryce Peila set up a 10-yard touchdown run by Haynes and Peila had a 48-yard interception return for a touchdown.

Peila, who also had nine tackles and a nine-yard punt return, then closed out the period with a 42-yard interception return.

"Peila's two picks were very crucial plays," Western Oregon head football coach Arne Ferguson said. "They really put the game away."

Haynes and Mozzochi led the WOU offense accounting for 90 rushing yards and 216 passing yards, respectively. Mozzochi completed 17 of 23 passes. Gates had eight receptions for 135 yards producing his fourth consecutive 100-yard game.

Wheeler converted on 26 of 38 passes for 286 yards to lead the Clan. Bobby Pospischil had 10 receptions for 73 yards, while Corrado had five for 123 yards.

Defensively, Isaiah Buchanan had 10 tackles for the Wolves, while Justin Capicciotti had 10 tackles, including 3 1/2 sacks for losses of 21 yards for SFU.

Azusa Pacific 48, Dixie State 19

Quarterback John van den Raadt rushed for 145 yard and two touchdowns and Johnell Murphy had 142 yards on 15 carries as Azusa Pacific cruised past Dixie State.

The Cougars ran for 442 of their 531 yards in total offense as van den Raadt had just 89 yards passing. He did complete 10 of 17 for two touchdowns.

Dixie had just 245 yards, including 109 rushing. Jesse Ence netted 84 yards on 10 carries.

Azusa got on the board early as Silas Goma recovered a blocked punt in the end zone just three minutes into the contest. Later in the period van den Raadt scored on a 58-yard run.

Azusa added two touchdowns in the second quarter on passes of five and 12 yards to Jeremiah Andujo and Tyson Hetzer to take a 28-12 lead at the break.

Azusa built a 48-12 lead in the second half before Dixie scored its only touchdown with 4:06 left on a 16-yard pass from Kaleo Nawahine to Spencer Young.

The Red Storm's first 12 points were on field goals by Jameson Schultz (42, 32, 42 and 45 yards).

Cache Morgan, who had 151 yards on five kickoff returns including a 70-yarder, led Dixie with nine tackles. Jake Duncan had eight tackles, including Dixie's only sack. Sean Barber had 10 tackles for Azusa.
