Tuesday, May 16, 2023

PORTLAND, Ore. – A total of seven GNAC players, six from teams that qualified for the GNAC Championships, have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Division II Baseball Team.

Central Washington led the conference with five Academic All-District selections. Montana State Billings and Northwest Nazarene have one selection apiece.

Nominees to the CSC Academic All-District Teams must be of sophomore standing or greater, be a starter or important reserve on their team with a minimum GPA of 3.50 or greater and must have participated in at least 50 percent of their team’s games. Pitchers must have at least 10 innings pitched to be eligible for nomination.

In a change to the program for 2022-23, all nominees who met the selection and were nominated by their institutions were named to the Academic All-District Team. Institutions could nominate a maximum of five players for the team.

The GNAC players selected to the team include a trio of First Team All-GNAC honorees in Central Washington junior catcher Austin Ohland, Wildcats sophomore outfielder Ben Leid and Northwest Nazarene sophomore utility player Mason Leavitt.

With their selections, the conference’s honorees are now eligible for consideration for CSC Academic All-America Division II Baseball Team, which will be announced on June 6.
