BILLINGS, Mont. – Abiye Jack was announced Tuesday as the interim head coach for the Montana State University Billings women's soccer program through the 2023 season.

"Abiye has displayed a lot of growth within the last two years and has earned the opportunity to lead our women's soccer program," said athletic director Michael Bazemore. "We are excited for him and our student-athletes and look forward to supporting him in this new role."

Jack has been an assistant coach for MSUB for the past two seasons and is also the Director of Coaching with Billings United Soccer Club.

"I would like to thank Montana State University Billings and Director of Athletics Michael Bazemore for the opportunity to lead the women's soccer program," said Jack, a Baltimore native. "After being the assistant for the last two seasons, I am excited to continue working with the team in this new role. The student-athletes in this program are special and accomplish so much on the field, in the classroom, and in the community. I look forward to building on the culture and creating an environment where we enjoy the process of improving each day."

Jack succeeds former head coach Stephen Cavallo, who departed MSUB to take an assistant coaching role with the University of Nevada women's soccer program. The two competed alongside each other at Frostburg State University, where Jack earned a career record of 23-6-10, collecting 13 clean sheets as a goalkeeper. Jack graduated in 2012 with his bachelor's degree in economics. Jack also enjoyed a career as a player in the National Premier Soccer League from 2017-2019.

"I am very proud and excited for Abiye that he gets the opportunity to prove himself as a head coach this fall season," said Cavallo. "Many of the things that have worked well for us these past two seasons have been Abiye's ideas, and I know that he is ready for this opportunity. I believe he is the best person to become the next head coach and will only continue to elevate the standards of our program. I look forward to watching him and the team's future successes."

Before joining MSUB, Jack served as the head coach and director of goalkeeping at the Coppermine Soccer Club during the 2020-2021 season. In addition to his duties at Coppermine, Jack was an assistant coach for both the men's and women's teams at CCBC Essex from 2019-2021, where he helped guide the clubs to two women's national tournament appearances, and a men's national finalist appearance in 2021. Jack's career also includes a four year stint as head coach for FC Frederick from 2016-2020.

Jack began his coaching career at Brunswick High School as the assistant varsity coach and head junior varsity coach from 2014-2018, where he was a part of the team's Class A Maryland State Title in 2014. Jack holds a United States Soccer Federation National D License.
