PORTLAND, Ore. – It was a busy week around the conference for women’s golf teams with four of the five programs on the course in Pueblo, Colorado for the Pack Classic on Sunday and Monday.

Simon Fraser was the highest-placing GNAC team at the tournament, carding a two-round score of 609 to finish in fifth place. The Red Leafs were followed by Saint Martin’s in eighth, Western Washington in 10th and Montana State Billings in 14th.

Simon Fraser freshman Sueah Park continued her strong run of form in Colorado, finishing the tournament in a three-way tie for third place with a two-round score of 3-over-par 147. Park has been perfect against GNAC competition and has now led all conference golfers at both tournaments she has competed in to start her collegiate career.

The Yellowjackets played the most golf of any team last week, they also competed at the SW Minnesota State Spring Classic in Litchfield Park, Arizona last Monday and Tuesday. The Adams twins led the efforts at both tournaments. Freshman Haylee Adams took the top score for MSUB in Arizona, finishing in a tie for 23rd with a two-round score of 167.  In Colorado, it was freshman Hannah Adams who had the edge, finishing in a tie for 54th with a score of 160.

Next week will also be packed with four of the five teams back in action before the end of the month in California and Arizona.

MONTANA STATE BILLINGS

• Montana State Billings opened its week at the SW Minnesota State Spring Classic on March 13 and 14 in Litchfield Park, Arizona. The Yellowjackets took seventh-place with a score of 688 before competing at the Pack Classic on March 19 and 20 in Pueblo, Colorado where they finished in 14th place with a two-round score of 653.

• Freshman Haylee Adams led the way for MSUB in Arizona with a two-round score of 167 to finish in a tie for 23rd. She was followed by fellow freshman, and sister, Hannah Adams, who was two strokes behind in a tie for 25th with SW Minnesota’s Jacqueline Gossen. Junior Brennan Larson and sophomore Adessa Lundberg rounded out scoring in 34th and a tie for 35th, respectively. Larson carded a score of 176 while Lundberg finished with a score of 177.

• Hannah Adams was the leading player for the Yellowjackets at the Pack Classic, carding a two-round score of 160 to finish in a tie for 54th. Haylee Adams followed her sister one stroke behind with a score of 161 in a tie for 56th. Aubree Mitchum made it three scoring freshmen for MSUB with a 62nd-place finish with a score of 164. Lundberg completed scoring again in a tie for 66th with a two-round score of 168.

• Montana State Billings will be back on the course from March 31 to April 1 at the RJGA Palm Valley Classic in Goodyear, Arizona.

NORTHWEST NAZARENE

• The Nighthawks have not competed since the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout on Feb. 27 in Alameda, California.

• Northwest Nazarene was one of three GNAC teams to start its spring at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout, though the tournament was cut short due to inclement weather. The Nighthawks finished in 10th place with a team score of 325, four strokes behind seventh-place Simon Fraser and nine strokes ahead of 14th-place Saint Martin’s.

• Junior Madison Gridley led the way for the Nighthawks, carding an 8-over-par 80 to tie for 30th place with SFU’s Izzy Ferguson and Saint Martin’s Kelsie Inouye along with four other golfers.

• Right behind Gridley was a trio of her teammates. Sophomore Christine Cho, freshman Elle McCord and sophomore Paige Vancil tied for 37th as all carded a score of 9-over-par 81.

• Northwest Nazarene will return to the course at the San Marcos Shootout on March 27 and 28 in Temecula, California.

SAINT MARTIN’S

• Saint Martin’s was the second-highest GNAC finishing team at the Pack Classic in eighth place with a two-round score of 615. The Saints were six strokes ahead of Western Washington in 10th and six strokes behind fifth-place Simon Fraser.

• Saint Martin’s had three of the top five GNAC golfers in the tournament. The Saint’s were led by freshman Ashley Bruland, who finished in a tie for ninth with a score of 5-over-par 149. Bruland shot a 76 on the first day before improving with a 73 on the second day of the tournament. Fellow freshman Kelsie Inouye made it two Saints in the top 15 with a score of 7-over-par 151 to tie for 12th.

• Senior Kathryn Crimp carded a score of 155 to finish in a tie for 29th along with Western Washington’s Emma Worgum. Sophomore Hannah White capped off the scoring for the Saints with a tie for 54th after carding a two-day score of 160.

• Saint Martin’s will also be in action at the San Marcos Shootout on March 27 and 28 in Temecula, California.

SIMON FRASER

• Simon Fraser led the GNAC at the Pack Classic in Pueblo, Colorado with a fifth-place finish courtesy of a two-round score of 609. The Red Leafs finished just three strokes behind fourth-place MSU Denver and were six strokes ahead of eighth-place Saint Martin’s.

• Freshman Sueah Park lead all GNAC golfers for her second tournament in a row to start her collegiate career. She carded a score of 3-over-par 147 to finish in a tie for third with Colorado Christian’s Courtney Andersson and Regis’ Madison O’Sullivan. Park posted her lowest score of the tournament on the second day where she shot a 72.

• Park was followed by junior Natasha Kozlowski in a tie for 12th with a score of 7-over-par 151. Junior Shirin Anjarwalla made it three Simon Fraser golfers in the top 30 with a tie for 29th place and a two-day score of 155. Freshman Chloe Tran was the final scoring player for the Red Leafs in a tie for 35th with a score of 156.

• Simon Fraser will join the majority of GNAC programs at the San Marcos Shootout in Temecula, California on March 27 and 28.

WESTERN WASHINGTON

• Western Washington carded a two-round score of 621 to take a 10th-place finish at the Pack Classic in Pueblo, Colorado on Sunday and Monday. The Vikings finished just one stroke behind ninth-place Regis and six behind eighth-place Saint Martin’s.

• Junior Claire Moon led the way for the Vikings in a tie for 22nd with a score of 9-over-par 153. Freshman Emma Worgum was another GNAC freshman who performed well at the tournament, finishing in a tie for 29th and just three strokes behind Moon with a score of 155.

• Junior Dani Bailey and freshman Kasey Maralack completed the scoring effort for Western Washington. Bailey finished in a tie for 40th with a score of 157 while Maralack tied for 44th just one stroke back with a score of 158.

• Western Washington is the lone GNAC team that will not compete in Temecula next week. The Vikings will not be back on course until April 3 and 4 when they travel to Santa Rosa, California for the Sonoma State Intercollegiate.
