Five GNAC Programs Receive AVCA Team Academic Award

PORTLAND, Ore. – Five GNAC volleyball programs are among the 147 total NCAA Division II programs that have earned the 2022 United States Marine Corps/American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award.

Alaska, Central Washington, Northwest Nazarene, Saint Martin’s and Seattle Pacific have been recognized for maintaining a team yearlong grade point average of 3.3 or greater. A total of 1,213 programs from the high school and collegiate ranks, both men’s and women’s teams, earned the award.

Alaska, Central Washington and Seattle Pacific were named to the Team Academic Award Honor Roll for being among the top 20 percent of team GPAs in Division II. Central Washington and Seattle Pacific led all GNAC volleyball programs with 3.72 GPAs while Alaska was close behind with a 3.71 GPA. Central Washington was named to the honor roll for the third consecutive year.

Seattle Pacific received the Team Academic Award for the 11th consecutive year and has earned the award 14 times in the history of the program. Central Washington and Northwest Nazarene were recognized for the seventh straight year. Alaska earned the award for the fourth straight year while Saint Martin’s was also recognized in 2021.

Over the conference’s history, 56 GNAC programs have earned the AVCA Team Academic Award. In addition to Seattle Pacific’s 14 total awards, Central Washington has received the award 10 times.
