PORTLAND, Ore. – The top two men’s golfers in the GNAC are also two of the top golfers in the region as Western Washington senior Jordan Lee and Simon Fraser senior Aidan Goodfellow have been named to the 2023 NCAA Division II PING All-West Region Team.

Lee and Goodfellow have been the two most efficient golfers in the conference this season with Lee owning a GNAC-best 70.5 stroke average and Goodfellow second in the GNAC with a 72.4 stroke average. The selection is the second of both Lee and Goodfellow’s careers. Lee previously earned All-West honors in 2019 while Goodfellow also earned selection in 2020.

Lee has been on a tear this season, particularly in the latter stages of the campaign. In his last four tournaments, Lee has recorded four straight top-two finishes. Those results include victories at the Hanny Stanislaus Classic, the NCAA West Regional Spring Preview and the GNAC Championships in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. He finished the NCAA West Regional in second place, just three strokes back from individual medalist honors.

Across the season, Lee has amassed eight total top-10 finishes and six top-five results. He also owns an impressive low round of 65 which he shot at the Dennis Rose Invitational in October. Lee’s consistently strong performances earned him unanimous selection as the GNAC Men’s Golf Player of the Year as voted by the conference’s coaches. He ranks third in the latest Golfstat rankings that were released on May 18.

Goodfellow has been the top golfer for Simon Fraser all season and led the Red Leafs to a tie for fourth place at the NCAA West/South Central Regional at the Foxtail Golf Club with a third-place individual finish and a three-round score of 5-under-par 211. Across the season, Goodfellow has notched four top-10 finishes including three top-five results and a win in September’s Saint Martin’s Bishop Invitational.

Goodfellow was one of four Simon Fraser golfers named to the All-GNAC First Team after leading the Red Leafs in the regular season and helping the team win its first GNAC Championships title since 2019. In Coeur d’Alene, Goodfellow tied for third place with a three-round score of 4-over-par 217 before helping SFU defeat the Vikings in a two-hole playoff.

There will be no time for Lee and Goodfellow to rest on their laurels as both Western Washington and Simon Fraser head to the NCAA Men’s Golf Championships in Warren, Ohio on May 22-26. The tournament will begin with three days of stroke-play before the top eight teams advance to two days of match-play to determine the NCAA champion.
