PORTLAND, Ore. – He leads the GNAC in scoring and has led Seattle Pacific to a solid first half of the conference season. Now Falcons junior forward Shaw Anderson has been named to the Top 100 Watch List for the Bevo Francis Award.

Presented annually by Small College Basketball, the Bevo Francis Award is presented annually to the player who has had the finest overall season with small college basketball. Nominees come from the NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA and NCCAA ranks.

Anderson is the only GNAC player named to the Top 100 Watch List and one of three players from Division II’s West Region. He currently leads the conference and ranks 28th in Division II in scoring at 20.5 points per game while also ranking 17th in Division II with 349 total points and 24th with 82 free throws made. Anderson also ranks among the conference leaders in both field goal percentage (.565) and free throw percentage (.828).

Anderson has been named the GNAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week three times this season. The most recent time was on Monday after Anderson averaged 25.5 points per game in wins over Western Oregon and Saint Martin’s. He scored the final six points of the game against the Saints, bringing the Falcons back from a one-point deficit to a 92-87 victory.

Anderson has helped lead Seattle Pacific to second place in the GNAC standings at 7-1 and a 12-5 overall record.

The Bevo Francis Award Watch List will be reduced to 50 players on Feb. 15. The winner will be announced on Apr. 3.
