INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Humboldt State University head rowing coach Matt Weise has been named to the NCAA Division II Women's Rowing Championships Committee. This is a four-year position and Weise will assist in selecting the championship fields for the NCAA Division II Women's Rowing Championships.

"I am excited to be a part of the NCAA Rowing Championships Committee," said Weise. "It provides an avenue for me to connect with all of the Division II rowing programs and allows me to listen to their input and make decisions based on the needs of the entire collegiate rowing body."

Weise is in his first season as the head women's rowing coach at Humboldt State University. He came to Humboldt State this past Spring from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan, where he was the Head Women's Rowing Coach from 2004 to 2019. He led the Spartans to three Big Ten team titles and 11 Big Ten individual titles. The Spartans had seven NCAA appearances, topped by a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Division I Championships.

Six of his athletes at Michigan State were members of the United States or Canadian National Team members. One was an Olympic Gold Medalist. He also coached 79 national scholar-athletes and 40 Big Ten Conference Distinguished Scholars (grade point average above 3.7). Weise is a Three-time Big Ten Coach of the Year and two-time Regional Coach of the Year.
