PORTLAND, Ore. – Two solid performances on the courts, one from a player who wears green and one from another named Green, have been singled out for selection as the GNAC Players of the Week.

Alaska Anchorage senior guard/forward Hannah Wandersee was named the Women’s Basketball Player of the Week after she was named the most valuable player of the DII Coast to Coast Tournament in Anchorage, leading the Seawolves with 32 points, 13 rebounds, six blocks and three steals in the two games. Wandersee led UAA with 18 points, nine rebounds and five blocks in Friday’s 66-56 win over Florida Tech, shooting 7 of 14 from the field. She followed that up by scoring 14 points on 7 of 9 from the field with four rebounds and two assists in a 65-54 win over Hawaii Pacific on Saturday.

Wandersee, the GNAC Preseason Player of the Year, and the Seawolves enter conference play with a 6-0 record. Alaska Anchorage will open the GNAC schedule at Central Washington on Thursday and at Northwest Nazarene on Saturday in an early match-up between last year’s two regular-season co-champions.

Montana State Billings junior guard Tyler Green was named the Men’s Basketball Player of the Week after he turned in back-to-back 19-point performances at the MSUB Thanksgiving Classic. On Friday, Green added four rebounds and four assists to the 19 points, which included 4 of 8 shooting from the three-point line, in a 75-73 loss to Cal State Dominguez Hills. He returned on Saturday to score 19 on 50 percent shooting from the field and 55 percent from outside in a 90-70 win over Black Hills State. He also had four rebounds and two assists in the contest.

Green and the Yellowjackets enter GNAC play under first-year head coach Mick Durham with a 3-3 record. The Yellowjackets will host Durham’s former team, Alaska, to open conference play on Tuesday followed by a Saturday match-up with Alaska Anchorage.

(Montana State Billings, G, 5-10, Jr., Redding, Calif. – Humboldt State Univ.): Green led the Yellowjackets by scoring 19 points in both games at the MSUB Thanksgiving Classic, shooting 42.8 percent from the field and 52.9 percent from three-point range. Green led MSUB with 19 points, which included 4 of 8 from three-point range, along with four rebounds and four assists in a 75-73 loss on Friday to Cal State Dominguez Hills. He then scored 19 in the Yellowjackets’ 90-70 win over Black Hills State, shooting 50 percent from the field and 55 percent from three-point range to go with two rebounds and four assists. Wandersee led UAA with 18 points on 7 of 14 from the field to go with nine rebounds and five blocks to beat Florida Tech on Friday, 66-56. She then finished with 14 points on 7 of 9 from the field with four rebounds and two assists in the 65-54 win on Saturday over Hawaii Pacific.
