PORTLAND, Ore. – For the second time in his Western Oregon career, Justin Crosswhite has been named an Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The senior was named Wednesday to the Division II Academic All-America Track and Field/Cross Country First Team. The only GNAC male track and field athlete named an Academic All-American this season, Crosswhite was previously named a Second Team Academic All-American in 2021.

Crosswhite joins Western Oregon’s Tyler Jones (second team in 2018, first team in 2019) and Saint Martin’s Nathan Carlson (third team in 2003, first team in 2005) as the only GNAC male cross country or track and field athletes to be named Academic All-Americans twice in their career.

With a 4.00 GPA in WOU’s graduate organizational leadership program, Crosswhite utilized his final season of outdoor track and field eligibility while pursuing his master’s degree. He ran season bests of 1:52.09 in the 800 meters and 3:48.93 in the 1,500 meters. He closed his collegiate career by placing seventh in the 1,500 meters and 14th in the 800 meters at the GNAC Outdoor Championships.

Crosswhite closes his career as a three-time CoSIDA Academic All-District selection and a five-time GNAC All-Academic Team selection.

Nominated by and voted upon by members of CoSIDA, nominees for the CoSIDA Academic All-America program must be of sophomore eligibility or greater, must be in their second year at the nominating institution, must be a starter or important reserve for their team and must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or greater.
