PORTLAND, Ore. – Making a successful balance between a tough academic program and being part of the roster for regular season co-champion Central Washington, Molly Nutt leads a total of 51 selections to the 2018 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Softball All-Academic Team.

Nutt, a junior, carries a perfect 4.00 grade point average as a business administration and is the only member of the squad at 4.00. Nutt played in 13 games for the Wildcats, starting four, as an outfielder as the Wildcats rallied in the final two weeks of the regular season to tie Northwest Nazarene for the regular-season championship.

Nutt is one of eight players to make the team with a 3.80 GPA or greater. She is joined by Central Washington junior Kayla Ellis, Concordia junior Mckenzie Smith, Northwest Nazarene sophomore Ally Byron, junior Cassidy Fifield and junior Kylie Orr; and Saint Martin’s sophomore Emily Baca and senior Lindsay Miller.

Of the 51 selections to the All-Academic Team, 25 are repeat selections. Eight of those honorees are three-time selections: Concordia’s Tori Muir, Montana State Billings’ Amanda Barham and Myrissa Prince; Northwest Nazarene’s Lily Paschal and Lisa Sylvester; and Saint Martin’s Lindsay Miller, Paige Miller and Kim Nelson.

A total of 11 All-GNAC Softball Team selections also earned a spot on the All-Academic Team. The list includes four first-team honorees, led by GNAC Player of the Year Heather Tracy of Montana State Billings.

Central Washington and Saint Martin’s each finished with 10 selections to the All-Academic Team. Northwest Nazarene finished with eight selections.

To earn selection to the GNAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must be of sophomore standing or higher, have a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher and be in at least their second season competing at the nominating institution.
