PORTLAND, Ore. - Concordia University Interim Director of Athletics Lauren Eads has announced that Kim Dehning has been named the Cavaliers' interim director of golf.  Dehning takes over for Adrian Burtner who was named the head golf professional at Columbia Edgewater Country Club in Portland, Ore.

"Kim's leadership is invaluable to our men's and women's golf program," said Eads.  "She will do an outstanding job taking the helm and continuing her support of our student-athletes.  It is also exciting to have Craig Dehning involved in the program again as he, too, leads the Cavaliers throughout the season this spring.  The Cavalier family will miss Coach (Adrian) Burtner but wish him great success at Columbia Edgewater Country Club."

Dehning has been the assistant coach for both the Cavalier men and women's golf teams since 2013.  She was a four-year varsity golfer for the Cavaliers from 2005-09.  Dehning helped Concordia to four trips to the NAIA National Championships which included a seventh-place finish in 2009, the team's highest national finish in school history.  The two-time All-Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) performer was an NAIA Scholar-Athlete in 2009.  Dehning graduated from Concordia in 2009.

"I am thankful for the opportunity to continue to work with our golfers," said Dehning. "After the moments of success we experienced in the fall and the continued hard work of the student-athletes this off-season, I'm excited to see how we perform this spring season.   I think Craig (Dehning) will be a great addition to the coaching staff and he is excited to be back in navy!"

Taking over as the assistant coach for both Concordia men and women's golf programs will be Dehning's husband and Cavalier golf alum, Craig Dehning.  He was a four-year varsity golfer for the Navy & White who also was an All-CCC performer in 2008.  He led the Cavaliers to a Cascade Collegiate Conference Championship in 2008 and a fifth place finish at the NAIA Regional Championships.
