PORTLAND, Ore. – The performances at the UW Invitational yielded two more conference records to lead the GNAC Athlete of the Week awards.

Western Oregon junior Derek Holdsworth was named the Men’s Track Athlete of the Week after he blew away the conference record in the 800 meters. His winning time of 1:47.74 was nearly two seconds faster than the previous record of 1:49.68 run by the Wolves’ Badane Sultessa in 2016. The NCAA Championships automatic qualifying time is the third-fastest in all college divisions and is tied for ninth in the world this season.
