PORTLAND, Ore. – GNAC Insider returned for its 67th episode Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. Pacific. Guests for the weekly podcast were Seattle Pacific cross country runner Anna Patti, Humboldt State wide receiver Chase Krivashei and Simon Fraser wrestler and GNAC SAAC national representative Ryan Yewchin .

Patti is a senior for the women’s cross country team at Seattle Pacific and has started her 2015 campaign on fire. In three races, Patti has taken first place in each, in both dominant and dramatic fashion. Patti placed first by almost a minute in the 6,000 meter UAF West Ridge Invitational on Thursday, Sept. 3, before also finishing first by just short of 30 seconds in the Invitional’s 5,000-meter race two days later. Each of the first two races had less than 30 competitors, but then Patti competed in a field of 218 at the Sundodger Invitational in Seattle, Wash. on Saturday. In the 6,000 meter run, Patti trailed in third place for a majority of the run before catching her competitors in the final 400 meters, eventually running away with the win in 21:11.82. Patti talked about her performance at the Sundodger Invitational, her past three letter-winning years with SPU and her future aspirations as an accounting major.

Krivashei and the Jacks are coming off a 66-7 rout of Dixie State on Saturday, moving up their record to 3-0. Krivashei caught six passes for 103 yards and two touchdowns in the game. He ranks second in the nation in touchdown catches with seven in just three games. Krivashei is a junior captain for Humboldt State. He has 20 catches for 250 yards in the early season, finding chemistry with sophomore quarterback Robert Webber. Krivashei was the GNAC Freshman of the Year in 2013 and a second-team all-conference selection in 2014. Krivashei spoke about the offensive explosion from Humboldt State in three games, his connection with quarterback Robert Webber and the rest of the GNAC season.

Yewchin is a senior wrestler for Simon Fraser and the GNAC’s national Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) representative. Yewchin wrestles in the 275 pound (125 kilogram) weight class for the Clan. As the national SAAC representative for the GNAC, Yewchin leads the representatives across the conference and updates them on news and changes in SAAC nationally. Over the past weekend, SAAC met for its annual retreat for meetings and bonding opportunities. This year, the group, which included 19 student athletes from across the conference, met in Portland where they receieved a tour of Concordia’s campus, spectated both a women’s soccer and volleyball match, took a hike up Multnomah Falls and volunteered at a Portland Timbers game among other activities. Yewchin led the meetings and was one of the main organizers over the weekend. Yewchin spoke about how he became the national representative for GNAC SAAC and the roles of SAAC in the conference and nationally.

GNAC Insider is hosted by Rob Lowery airing live at 7 p.m. Pacific every Tuesday and is produced by the conference office. All episodes become available as free podcasts via iTunes. To listen to archived episodes go to GNAC.TV.
