INDIANAPOLIS – Keeping the GNAC represented within football circles, Central Washington director of athletics Dennis Francois has seen selected for a four-year term on the NCAA Division II Football Committee.

“It is truly an honor to be chosen to serve on the Division II Football Committee and to represent Central Washington University, the Great Northwest Athletic Conference and Super Region 4,” Francois said. “I am looking forward to working collaboratively with my fellow committee members from across the country and we further strengthen the Division II football brand.”

The Division II sports committees conduct their sport’s respective Division II championship and develop policies and procedures to administer the championship in an efficient and orderly manner. Sport committee members also chair regional advisory committees (RAC), oversee selections to national championships and serve as the NCAA representative during preliminary-round competition and championship finals. Bingham’s four-year term will run until August 2025.

Francois has served as director of athletics at Central Washington since 2013. During that time, the CWU football program has won or shared three GNAC championships and made the NCAA Division II playoffs in 2017. He has overseen a number of capital improvements to the CWU physical plant, including a $6 million renovation of Tomlinson Stadium.

In addition to his duties with the Division II Football Committee, Francois is on the executive committee for the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics and the board of directors for the Division 2 Athletic Directors Association. He is also a member of the board of directors for the Northwest Intercollegiate Football Officials Association, which provides the GNAC with its officials.

Prior to his arrival at Central Washington, Francois was the associate athletic director for external affairs at Drake University. He has also served as interim athletic director at New Mexico Highlands (2002-03) and as athletic director at Southern Oregon (2005-08).
