PORTLAND, Ore. – Exceptional prowess in academics and athletics often run in families. That is certainly the case with the Tingstad brothers, who lead a total of 44 selections to the 2018 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Football All-Academic Team.

Western Oregon senior Caleb Tingstad was named to his second All-Academic Team and is one of eight Wolves’ players named to the squad. The tight end has appeared in all nine games for the Wolves this season while amassing a 3.85 cumulative grade point average as an economics major.

Humboldt State sophomore Andrew Tingstad is the only member of the All-Academic Team with a perfect 4.00 grade point average as a business administration major. One of three quarterbacks to see time for the Lumberjacks this season, Andrew has completed 34 of 68 passes for 484 yards and three touchdowns. He has also rushed for 94 yards and two touchdowns.

Azusa Pacific leads all five GNAC programs with an impressive 23 selections to the All-Academic Team.

The brothers Tingstad are among 21 selections to the team with a grade point average of 3.50 or better and among eight with a 3.70 GPA or better. The squad features a total of 17 repeat selections along four three-time honorees in Azusa Pacific senior Jonah Wataru, Central Washington senior Chandler Strueli, Simon Fraser senior Ben Minaker and Western Oregon senior Andrew Weber.

Selections to the GNAC All-Academic Teams must be of sophomore standing or greater, be in their second year at the nominating school, have a minimum of a 3.20 cumulative grade point average at their current institution and be on the roster for their team the full season.
