THIS WEEK'S GNAC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

OFFENSE
Sophia Chilczuk, Seattle Pacific

Chilczuk scored two goals in two road matches as the Falcons opened GNAC play with a 2-0 record. She netted a late insurance goal in Thursday’s 3-0 shutout of Northwest Nazarene then scored the game-winner in the 47th minute of a 2-0 shutout of Saint Martin’s on Saturday.

DEFENSE
Mason Minder, Seattle Pacific

Minder played all 90 minutes in Thursday’s 3-0 win at Northwest Nazarene, helping to limit the Nighthawks to just two shots on goal. She also helped in Saturday’s 2-0 shutout at Saint Martin’s in which the Saints didn’t produce a shot until the final minute of the match.

AROUND THE GNAC
CENTRAL WASHINGTON
• Central Washington won its only match of the week with a 2-1 overtime victory on Thursday at Simon Fraser to open its conference schedule.

Peyton Vogel scored the golden goal for the Wildcats in the 98th minute. Vogel also had the assist on the opening goal of the match.

Madison Hinkel was credited with the opening goal in the 60th minute.

• Goalkeeper Megan Fox recorded six saves on 14 shots and seven shots on goal by Simon Fraser.

• Central Washington is ranked tied for fourth in the conference with nine goals. Olivia Sloan is tied for fourth in the conference with three goals.

• The Wildcats are now 3-3-0 (1-0-0 GNAC). Up next, CWU will continue GNAC play at Western Washington on Thursday and at home against Saint Martin’s on Saturday.

CONCORDIA
• Concordia opened GNAC play with a 2-1 loss on Saturday at Montana State Billings.

Jaida Nyby scored the first goal of the game in the 34th minute, but MSUB responded with two second-half goals to take the lead.

Hailey Asato recorded three saves on five shots on goal.

Kyra Radcliffe is tied for second place in the GNAC with four goals and also ranks fourth with eight points.

• Concordia is now 2-5-0 (0-1-0 GNAC). Up next, the Cavs will continue GNAC play at Seattle Pacific on Thursday.

MONTANA STATE BILLINGS
• Montana State Billings started conference play with two wins at home. The Yellowjackets shut out Western Oregon, 1-0, on Thursday then topped Concordia, 2-1, on Saturday.

Lexie Bloyder netted the only goal in the 1-0 win over Western Oregon. It was her second game-winner of the season.

• The Yellowjacket defense didn’t allow Western Oregon a single shot on goal.

Alexa Iacolucci scored the equalizer in the win over Concordia then assisted on the game-winning goal to Kiley Sandow.

• Goalkeeper Erinn Harder recorded three saves on seven shots and four shots on goal by the Cavs. Harder ranks second in the GNAC with a 0.57 goals against average and tops the conference with three shutouts.

• Montana State Billings is now 3-2-2 (2-0-0 GNAC) on the season. Up next, the Yellowjackets will hit the road to play at Northwest Nazarene on Thursday and at Western Washington on Saturday.

NORTHWEST NAZARENE
• Northwest Nazarene lost 3-0 to Seattle Pacific on Thursday then tied Western Oregon, 1-1, on Saturday.

• The Nighthawks had 11 shots and two shots on goal but weren’t able to find the net against SPU.

Rikki Myers scored the opening goal in the match against Western Oregon, but the Wolves tied it in the 79th minute to send the game to overtime. It was Myers’ seventh goal of the season. Myers continues to lead the conference and ranks 18th in Division II with seven goals. She also ranks 27th in Division II with 14 points.

Alexis Montoya recorded eight saves in the 3-0 loss to SPU then made another six in the tie with Western Oregon. She ranks second in the GNAC and 33rd in Division II with 42 saves.

• Northwest Nazarene is now 3-4-1 (0-1-1 GNAC) on the season. Up next, the Nighthawks will stay home to host Montana State Billings on Thursday and Simon Fraser on Saturday.

SAINT MARTIN’S
• Saint Martin’s opened conference play with a 2-0 loss at home to Seattle Pacific on Saturday.

• The Saints didn’t produce a shot in the loss to SPU until the  89th minute of the match.

• Goalkeeper Sophie Mendoza recorded five saves in the match.

• Saint Martin’s ranks second in the GNAC with 44 total saves.

Jessica Moskowitz is tied for fifth in the conference with two assists.

• Saint Martin’s is now 2-4-2 (0-1-0 GNAC). Up next, the Saints will be on the road to play at Simon Fraser on Thursday and Central Washington on Saturday.

SEATTLE PACIFIC
• Seattle Pacific started conference play 2-0 with a 3-0 shutout at Northwest Nazarene on Thursday and a 2-0 shutout at Saint Martin’s on Saturday.

• The Falcons swept GNAC Players of the Week honors. Sophia Chilczuk earned offensive honors after scoring a goal in each of Seattle Pacific’s matches. She scored an insurance goal at Northwest Nazarene then scored the game-winner in the 47th minute at Saint Martin’s

Mason Minder earned defensive honors after playing all 90 minutes at Northwest Nazarene and helping to limit the Nighthawks to just two shots on goal. She also anchored a Falcon defense that didn’t allow Saint Martin’s a single shot until the final minute of the match.

Sierra Smith and AJ DePinto scored the first two goals for SPU in the 3-0 win over NNU.

Chloe Gellhaus notched the second goal in the 2-0 win at Saint Martin’s.

• Seattle Pacific ranks second in the GNAC with seven goals allowed and a 0.86 goals against average. The Falcons also rank third in the conference with 10 goals.

• The Falcons entered the week at No. 9 on the latest United Soccer Coaches West Region Poll.

• Seattle Pacific is now 4-4-0 (2-0-0 GNAC). Up next, the Falcons will stay home to host Concordia on Thursday before heading to Monmouth to play at Western Oregon on Saturday.

SIMON FRASER
• Simon Fraser dropped both of its matches at home last week. The Clan lost to Central Washington, 2-1, in overtime on Thursday then was shut out by Western Washington, 3-0, on Saturday.

Giuliana Zaurrini netted the Simon Fraser goal against Central Washington in the 84th minute to send the game to overtime.

Nicole Anderson made another 17 saves last week between the two matches. She leads the GNAC and ranks 22nd in Division II with 48 saves.

• Simon Fraser is now 0-5-1 (0-2-0 GNAC). Up next, the Clan will look to pick up its first win of the season, hosting Saint Martin’s on Thursday and traveling to Nampa, Idaho, to play at Northwest Nazarene on Saturday.

WESTERN OREGON
• Western Oregon opened its GNAC schedule with a 1-0 loss at Montana State Billings on Thursday then tied with Northwest Nazarene, 1-1 in double overtime, on Saturday in Nampa, Idaho.

• The Wolves produced 10 shots in the loss at MSUB but weren’t able to get a shot on goal.

• Western Oregon tied the game at Northwest Nazarene with a corner kick.

• Goalkeeper Alex Qualls made eight saves in the two matches. She ranks fifth in the GNAC with a 1.00 goals against average.

• Western Oregon tops the conference and ranks 50th in Division II with 11 assists. The Wolves are also tied for first with Northwest Nazarene with 37 total points.

• Western Oregon is now 3-3-2 (0-1-1 GNAC) on the season. Up next, the Wolves will stay home to host Seattle Pacific on Saturday.

WESTERN WASHINGTON
• Western Washington lost 2-1 at No. 9 Colorado Mines on Wednesday in a battle of top-10 teams. The Vikings then opened GNAC play with a 3-0 shutout at Simon Fraser on Saturday.

• Colorado Mines got off to a 2-0 lead in the first 16 minutes of the game. Western Washington’s Emily Nelson netted a ball in the 88th minute, but the Orediggers held one for the victory.

• Western Washington put up 26 shots and 13 shots on goal at Simon Fraser to dominate on both sides of the ball in the 3-0 shutout.

Karli White opened the scoring for the Vikings in the 14th minute. White was followed by Liv Larson in the 75th minute and Nelson in the 87th minute for insurance. Larson ranks third in the conference with nine points.

Natalie Dierickx made six saves on the week. She ranks first in the GNAC and 17th in Division II with a 0.42 goals against average. She also ranks 40th in Division II with a .870 save percentage.

• Western Washington dropped to No. 17 on the latest United Soccer Coaches National Poll.

• Western Washington is now 5-2-0 (1-0-0 GNAC) on the season. Up next, the Vikings will stay home to host Central Washington on Thursday and Montana State Billings on Saturday.
