PORTLAND, Ore. – GNAC goalies have recorded a combined 25 shutouts and four of them have allowed 10 or less goals this season.

It should come as no surprise then that four GNAC goalies are in the Top 25 in four major categories released by the NCAA.

Possibly the GNAC’s top goalie is from the conference’s top team, Western Washington. Ashley Haden has allowed three goals all year in helping the Vikings to a 6-0-2 conference record.

Western Washington is tops in the country in save percentage while Haden ranks in the top five in goals against average and save percentage.

Western Oregon’s Amanda Rose Johnson is there as well, ranking 16th in save percentage while also being second in the conference in shutouts with five. Johnson is also 35th in goals against average after allowing only six goals all season.

Saint Martin’s Sunny De Boer is 17th in the nation in saves and ranks 13th in goalie minutes played. Central Washington’s Kayla Lipston is also on that list, ranking 21st and also is 48th in total saves.

Two weeks ago, Johnson and Lipston each recorded two shutouts and blocked 17 shots on their way to Player of the Week awards.

Daniele Ortiz of NNU won the honor the first week of the season by shutting out Colorado Christian while Montana State Billings Krystal Daniels earned that recognition last week after her shutout of Seattle Pacific.

Haden, Daniels, Johnson and Seattle Pacific’s Alexa Hughes have all allowed less than 10 goals this season while GNAC goalies as a whole have only allowed two players score more than five goals on them this season.

With a combined 442 saves, GNAC goalies have and will continue to be a challenge to score on.

Other Notes:

  • GNAC Player of the Week Laura Moore of SPU recorded her first hat trick of the season in the Falcons win over NNU last week.
  • Seattle Pacific has three of the top four scorers in the conference with Hannah Huesers scoring five goals while Isabel Farrell and Moore have four.
  • The first NCAA West Region poll will be released on Tuesday, October 21.
