CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – A pair of GNAC women’s golfers have been recognized as among the top performers both on the course and in the classroom by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA).

Recent Montana State Billings graduate Bailee Dexter and Simon Fraser sophomore Laura Jones are among a total of 1,011 Scholar All-Americans honored by the coaches association. The program recognizes players on NCAA women’s golf programs who compile a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or better.

Dexter, who graduated last spring, finished her career with an impressive 3.97 GPA as an English major. In addition to the WGCA honor, Dexter was named to the Google Cloud/CoSIDA Division II Academic All-District 8 At-Large Team and earned her third selection to the GNAC Women’s Golf All-Academic Team.

A Second Team All-GNAC selection in 2017-18, Dexter led the Yellowjackets and finished tied for 11th in the GNAC this season with a stroke average of 80.2. She finished her career by tying for 20th place at the GNAC Championships in April. She ranks 13th on the GNAC women’s golf career list with a career stroke average of 80.45.

Jones enters her third season at Simon Fraser having compiled a 4.23 GPA (on the 4.33 Canadian scale) as a health sciences major. She finished the season with a 79.6 stroke average in five events this season. Jones played most of her rounds during the fall season and had her season-low round of even-par 72 at the Rose City Collegiate tournament on Sept. 25, and finished second in the Northwest Shootout in September.

Jones was named to the GNAC Women’s Golf All-Academic Team for the first time this spring and was recognized by Simon Fraser as the school’s top scholar-athlete for the 2017-18 academic year.
