GNAC Teams Poised For Two Tournaments In Five-Day Span

PORTLAND, Ore. – With just one GNAC squad seeing action earlier in the week, five GNAC teams participate in the Saint Martin’s Invitational this weekend at the Olympia Golf and Country Club.

On Monday and Tuesday, Western Washington traveled to Hurricane, Utah, to play in the Dixie State Invitational. The Vikings finished in sixth place, shooting a team score of 640. Stephanie Sewell finished tied for seventh, carding a 9-over par 153 over 36 holes. Katelann Soth was the second-highest Viking placer, coming in 23rd with a 15-over par 159 for the tournament.

Simon Fraser’s Emily Leung garnered the GNAC Golf Women’s Player of the Week after her performance at the Rose City Collegiate last week. Leung was the top non-Division I player at the event, tying for fifth place with a three-score of 2-over-par 218. She tied with four other players for fifth place and carded low scores of even-par 72 in both the first and second rounds.

Concordia, Montana State Billings, Northwest Nazarene, Saint Martin’s and Simon Fraser visit Olympia, Wash., this weekend to participate in the Saint Martin’s Invitational. Western Washington resumes its fall slate hosting all six GNAC teams in the Western Washington Invitational next week.

• Concordia’s Shantel Antonio earned individual medalist honors by claiming the Northwest Shootout with a one-round score of 1-under par 71 on Sept. 21.  In their first invitational of the fall, the Cavaliers placed second, just two strokes behind Simon Fraser's team-best 308.
Cammie Decker finished with a three-round score of 228 (73-78-77) to lead the Cavaliers at the Rose City Collegiate hosted by Portland State. Decker finished in a tie for 39th place, just two strokes out of 35th place and three out of 26th place.
• The Cavaliers head to Olympia, Wash., this weekend to participate in the Saint Martin’s Invitational. They wrap up the fall season on Monday at the Western Washington Invitational.

MONTANA STATE BILLINGS

• On Tuesday, Sept. 26, Bailee Dexter came within one stroke of the Montana State Billings women's golf school record with a 1-under par 71 in the final round of the Western New Mexico Invitational.
• Four birdies fueled Dexter’s best career round. Her effort for the Yellowjackets finished her with a two-round total of 638 (322-316) and wound up in 10th place among the field of 17 teams.
• The Yellowjackets travel to Olympia, Wash., this Friday to play in the Saint Martin’s Invitational.

NORTHWEST NAZARENE
LAST WEEK: None
THIS WEEK: Oct. 6-7 at Saint Martin’s Invitational, Olympia, Wash. Oct. 9-10 at Western Washington Invitational, Bellingham, Wash.
•The Crusaders were one of two GNAC teams to not see tournament last week. In the one tournament Northwest Nazarene has played in this season (Northwest Shootout on Sept. 21), NNU finished in fifth with a team score of 333.
Hannah Holloway leads the Crusaders with the lowest round of 8-over par 80 this season.
• Northwest Nazarene heads west to Olympia, Wash., this weekend to play in the Saint Martin’s Invitational. The Crusaders will play in three more tournaments to end their fall season.

SAINT MARTIN’S
LAST WEEK: None
THIS WEEK: Oct. 6-7 at Saint Martin’s Invitational, Olympia, Wash. Oct. 9-10 at Western Washington Invitational, Bellingham, Wash.
• The Saints were one of two GNAC teams to not see tournament action last week. In the one tournament Saint Martin’s has played in this season (Northwest Shootout on Sept. 21), SMU finished in fourth with a team score of 327.
Celia Beyke led all Saints' golfers with an 80, placing her tied for 10th overall. Hannah Reynolds finished tied for 14th in her first collegiate match.
• The Saints next host the Saint Martin’s Invitational this weekend at the Olympia Golf and Country Club.

SIMON FRASER
LAST WEEK: Sept. 25-26 at Rose City Collegiate. 6th of 14, 897 (297-294-306).
THIS WEEK: Oct. 6-7 at Saint Martin’s Invitational, Olympia, Wash. Oct. 9-10 at Western Washington Invitational, Bellingham, Wash.
• The Clan completed its third tournament of the season in sixth place at the Rose City Collegiate on Tuesday, Sept. 26. The team finished day one with 294 strokes in the second round for a total of 897 strokes (297-294-306).
Emily Leung paced the Clan, finishing tied for fifth place with a total of 218 strokes (72-72-74). Leung was two-over par for the tournament after making 41 pars. Leung was one of five players who tied for fifth and was the highest non-Division I finisher. Her efforts earned her this week’s GNAC Golf Women’s Player of the Week honor.
• Simon Fraser finishes the fall season with a weekend trip to the Saint Martin’s Invitational and concludes with the Western Washington Invitational starting Monday.

WESTERN WASHINGTON

• Western Washington finished in 13th at the Rose City Collegiate played Sept. 25-26 at Langdon Farms Golf Club last week.
Jenn Paul and Annie Leete led the way for the Vikings, tying for 54th place. Leete, a junior transfer from Eastern Washington, recorded three sub-80 rounds to finish at 20-over par 236. Paul carded her best score of the tournament in the second round with a 5-over par 77.
• Earlier this week, the Vikings were the only GNAC team in action, as they traveled to Hurricane, Utah, to participate in the Dixie State Fall Invitational. Stephanie Sewell was the highest placer for the Vikings, finishing tied for 6th at 9-over par 153 through two rounds.
• Western Washington is the lone GNAC team to not field a squad for the Saint Martin’s Invitational this weekend. The Vikings close out the fall hosting the Western Washington Invitational on Monday.
