PORTLAND, Ore. – An outstanding season on the golf course and in the classroom for Montana State Billings’ Bailee Dexter has been rewarded with her selection to the Google Cloud Division II Academic All-District 8 Women’s At-Large Team by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Dexter, a two-time Second Team All-GNAC selection, finished her eligibility this spring while compiling a 3.97 cumulative grade point average in English. She was one of eight student-athletes named to the Academic All-District Team with a 3.90 GPA or higher and is a three-time GNAC Women’s Golf All-Academic Team selection.

Dexter finished the season ranked second for the Yellowjackets and 12th in the GNAC with an 80.2 stroke average per 18 holes. She finished the year with two top-five tournament finishes, which included a victory at the MSUB Yellowjacket Spring Invitational on Apr. 17. Dexter finished the season tied for 20th at the GNAC Women’s Golf Championships.

The Academic All-District At-Large team is comprised of student-athletes in NCAA championship sports that do not have their own selected team in the Academic All-America program. This includes bowling, golf, gymnastics, lacrosse, rifle, rowing, skiing, swimming and tennis.

Dexter is joined by two other athletes from GNAC schools who competed in non-conference sports. Western Washington junior rower Angie Dexter was selected with a 3.91 GPA in Spanish and Alaska Anchorage sophomore skier Hailey Swirbul made the squad with a 4.00 GPA in civil engineering.

With selection to the Academic All-District 8 Team, the three athletes will now be considered for the Google Cloud Division II Academic All-America Team, which will be announced on June 13.

Nominated and voted upon by members of CoSIDA, nominees to the Academic All-District 8 Team come from the West’s three Division II conferences: the GNAC, the California Collegiate Athletic Association and the PacWest Conference. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be of sophomore standing or higher, be a starter or important reserve on their team, must be in their second year at the nominating school and have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher.
