PORTLAND, Ore. - Western Washington’s Jenn Paul has earned GNAC Golfer of the Week honors after tying for fifth at the Western New Mexico Fall Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday in Avondale, Ariz.

Paul shot an opening round 71, which put her in fourth place entering the second day, and a 75 on the second day to hold onto fifth place with a two round score of 148.

Paul, who has the low round in the conference this season with her opening round of 71, was the only GNAC individual to place in the Top 10. Last year’s GNAC Golfer of the Year Kristen Hansen did finish in 18th place scoring six over par through the two day invitational.

Western Washington’s golf team finished in third place at the intercollegiate with a score of 602, which was 15 shots off the pace of winner Cal Baptist. WWU was only one stroke behind second place finisher Colorado Mesa.

The only other GNAC team to compete in the event was Montana State Billings which placed 13th. Katie Fish continued to lead the Yellowjackets in their second event of the year, placing 31st at the intercollegiate.

A week earlier Fish led MSUB to a sixth place finish at the Colorado Christian Invitational where she placed 21st.

Montana State Billings will head to Colorado next Monday and Tuesday for the Colorado Mesa Invitational while Western Washington will travel to Sunriver, Ore. to play in the Golfweek Invitational.

Northwest Nazarene, Simon Fraser and Saint Martin’s will participate in their first events this fall next Friday and Saturday at the Saint Martin’s Invitational in Olympia, Wash.
