Women's Basketball: Top Shooters Reside in the GNAC

PORTLAND, Ore. - The top shooters reside in the GNAC.

In this week's NCAA Division II national statistical rankings, Simon Fraser is ranked first in field goal percentage shooting 47.6 percent and Seattle Pacific ranks first in free throw percentage converting on 80.5 percent of its chances.

Individually, SFU's Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe leads Division II in field goal percentage making 67.8 percent and Mariah Durian of Western Oregon is the leader in free throw percentage making 94.2 percent.  Raincock-Ekunwe also ranks third in rebounding (12.5) and fifth in double-doubles (10).

Simon Fraser, which is ranked seventh in this week's USA Today Sports WBCA national poll, also ranks second in assists (19.2), sixth in scoring margin (20.3) and 10th in assist/turnover ratio (1.15).

Western Washington, which is ranked fifth in the WBCA poll, has a pair of No. 9 national statistical rankings - in assists (18.0) and assist/turnover ratio (1.16).

Montana State Billings is ranked third in fewest turnovers (11.8), fifth in assist/turnover ratio (1.23) and seventh in turnover margin (7.06). Central Washington is ranked seventh in three-pointers (8.8), while Alaska Anchorage is 10th (8.5) in treys.

In addition to the two national leaders,  individuals from the GNAC ranked in the Top 10 include Bobbi Knudsen of MSU Billings, fourth in assists (6.3) and assist/turnover ratio (2.46); Sasha King of Alaska Anchorage, second in assists (6.4); Erin Chambers of Simon Fraser,  fifth in free throw percentage (91.5); Ally Schmitt of Central Washington, seventh in assists (5.8), and Suzanna Ohlsen of Seattle Pacific, 10th in free throw percentage (90.4).

NNU AMONG OTHERS RECEIVING VOTES: In addition to Western Washington (5th) and Simon Fraser (7th), Northwest Nazarene also received votes in this week's national poll and is 40th overall ... The national poll has no bearing on which teams advance to the playoffs.  Five of the eight teams that earn bids from the West Region will be based on the West Regional poll, while the other three will go to the GNAC, PacWest and CCAA champions.  The first regional poll will be announced Feb. 20.
