Casey Williams Hired As MSU Billings Volleyball Coach

BILLINGS, Mont. – Casey Williams, a Billings native, has been selected as the next head coach for the Montana State University Billings volleyball team announced by the department of athletics on Tuesday.
 
“We are excited to welcome Casey to the MSUB family, and are looking forward to the leadership she will bring to our volleyball program,” commented MSUB director of athletics Krista Montague. “Casey is well equipped to assume this head coaching role, and we are confident she will apply her successful background as a coach and bring positive energy into our program.”
 
“I am extremely honored to be selected as the new head volleyball coach at MSUB,” Williams said. “I look forward to returning to Montana to create a successful, student-centered volleyball program for the Yellowjackets. This is a wonderful opportunity and I am eager to begin my relationship with MSUB.”
 
Williams will assume her new post in charge of the Yellowjackets on Monday, Feb. 8.
 
Most recently serving as the head coach at Frank Phillips College in Borger, Texas, Williams led the Plainsmen to a 36-6 overall record in 2015 and a National Junior College Athletic Association regional championship in her second season in charge. She was selected as the 2015 Western Junior College Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, after leading FPC to the regular season and conference tournament titles.
 
Williams previously served as the head volleyball coach at Southern Academy High School (Alabama), after earning a bachelor’s degree from the University of West Alabama in 2012. She was the 2013 Alabama Independent School Association Coach of the Year after leading her prep team to a third place finish in the state tournament.
 
Williams attended Skyview High School in Billings, and competed in volleyball at Spokane Falls Community College for two seasons before transferring to West Alabama to finish her collegiate career.
 
The Yellowjackets finished the 2015 season with an overall record of 6-23 and went 5-15 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference matches.
